Two Project on Preparation of Oilfield Chemicals Envisaged in SINOPEC’s Plan Have Passed Technical Appraisal and Assessment

Recently the projects “Preparation of synergistic type low-polymer oil displacement agent for microbial flooding” and “Study on application of novel quaternary phosphonium biocide in oilfield”, which were jointly undertaken by the SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) and the SINOPEC Shengli Oilfield Branch Company, have passed the technical appraisal and assessment organized by the SINOPEC Science and Technology Division.

The technical personnel of the project “Preparation of synergistic type low-polymer oil displacement agent for microbial flooding” by virtue of innovation in the skeleton structure of molecules has designed the lowpolymerized type surface active agent (SAA) having a novel topological structure to develop a green synthesis process based on renewable biomass. The oil displacement efficiency of this SAA at a concentration of 50 mg/L can reach a highest value of 90%, which is by 1.7 times higher than the conventional oil displacement agent to secure an internationally advanced level of this technology. During the period spanning from 2014 to 2017, the field application trials were carried out in the Shengli oilfield, leading to the formation of the process for onsite application of a novel compounded activator system. The guiding study on microbial flooding was conducted in the Zhan-3 block of Shengli Oilfield to implement the huff and puff testing in 152 single wells. The Zhan-3 block after being injected with novel activator has seen its daily oil production increased to 99 t/d from the previous level of 24 t/d along with the water content reduced to 88.6% from the previous level of 93.1%. The onsite application tests have brought about an increment of oil production amounting to 60 thousand metric tons.

The technical personnel of the project “Study on application of novel quaternary phosphonium biocide in oilfield” by taking into account the water quality of the Shengli oilfield has developed a novel quaternary phosphonium biocide RPB-6, which at a low concentration of 40 mg/L can completely kill the sulfate reducing bacteria with its performance exceeding the existing quaternary phosphonium adopted by the oilfield.The biocide RPB-6 shows a synergist action with the existing water treatment agent, since they have good effects on stripping the biological sludge. In 2017 a field test was conducted in a joint oil/gas collecting station KD 18 under the Gudong Oil Production Management Region No. 5, and the bactericidal rate reached 100% at a dosage of biocide RPB-6 equating to 40-60 mg/L with great success to promise a good market prospect.
