Unit 1 Women of achievement

Writing

Teaching aims:

Knowledge aims:

In this class, most of the students will:

1. learn the outline of the sample passage about a great woman.

2. learn some useful expressions and structures of describing a great woman;.

Ability aims:

the students will read the sample passage and learn how to describe a great woman by imitating the sample passage.

Emotional aims:

Arouse the students interest of great women and learn something from them.

Teaching important points:

Students will learn to analyze the outline of a sample passage and learn to write a composition of a great woman.

Teaching difficult points

Ss learn some useful expressions: be remembered as, devote ...to...., speak highly of...

Teaching methods: Product Approach & Task-based Approach

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in :

Enjoy some pictures and play a part of Roman Holidays and then talk about the famous actress and great woman Audrey Hepburn.

设计意图:学生欣赏图片并观看一段罗马假日电影片段,引入女主角奥黛丽赫本,通过图片,让学生了解到她不仅仅是一个演员还是一个伟大的女性,贴近话题。

Step 2 Pre-writing:

Activity 1. Fast reading

Ask the students to read the sample passage quickly and find out the main idea of

each paragraph, and match the main ideas with the paragraphs.

Para 1 A: Her jobs and her achievement.

Para 2 B: Assessment.

Para 3 C: Her family background and education.

设计意图:通过阅读,让学生了解文章的篇章结构,为学生后面‘对伟大女性描写做好整体性框架的把握。推导出描写伟人一般的普遍的框架。

Activity2. Careful reading

Lead students to find out the some useful expressions and advanced sentence patterns through this passage.

设计意图:读细节,让学生从文章中找出相关词组和句型结构,让学生自己清晰意识到文章中的高级表达句型和短语,并从中学习,为后面顺利写作进行细节铺垫。

Activity3. Analyze the writing material

Firstly, analyze the person and tense about the material. Secondly, divide the content into three parts according to the writing structure.

设计意图:通过分析材料,让学生近一步对写作的要点把握准确,为写作做准备。

Activity4. Introduce some words, phrases and sentence patterns and write some sentences.

设计意图: 通过对另外一些词汇,短语和句型地介绍,并对几个句子的练习,让学生更好地把握对“伟大女性”的描写,为写作做准备。

Step 3 While-Writing:

1.Ask the students to write a passage about Peng Liyuan within 10 minutes and invite a student to write his /her composition on the blackboard.

设计意图:教师先批阅学生作文,起到示范的作用, 引导学生一起修改,把握对作文评分的要求,对自己以后写作有帮助。

Step 5 Summary

Teacher guides students to make a summary.

设计意图:让学生对今天所学知识再次做一个复习,加深印象。

Step 6 Homework:

1.Write the final draft after proof-reading it yourself.

2.Exchange your passage with your partner and comment them with marks.

设计意图:交换批改同伴的文章,通过欣赏其他同学的文章,巩固今天所学知识,通过关注和发现同伴写作中的优秀的句子和出现错误的地方,进一步帮助和提醒学生更好地写作。
