语言风格一致,续写融合度高

读后续写要求考生根据原文提供的故事内容,续写出与原材料情节逻辑合理,语言风格一致的故事结尾。因此,考生在进行续写时除了要考虑情节是否合理以外,还要模仿原文语言风格,尽量与原文一致。

一、读后续写文本材料的语言特点

从表1可看出近三年新高考全国Ⅰ卷的读后续写所提供原材料皆属于人与自我语境下的记叙文,具有叙述性语言和描写性语言相结合的特点。在句式方面以简单句为主,复合句为辅,其中复合句又以状语从句居多,定语从句及宾语从句也涉及。原材料所使用语言虽简朴但生动细腻、富有情感,具有极强的画面感。因此,考生在续写过程中,应该结合记叙文的语言风格特点,分析原材料的措辞、句式和修辞手法,从而续写出与原材料语言风格契合度高的短文。

二、存在问题

下面我们以2023年新高考全国Ⅰ卷读后续写为例分析考生在续写时语言上存在的主要问题:

1.用词过于生僻。如[例1]中的exhilarated和triumph。有些考生,尤其是程度比较好的考生想多使用所谓的“高级词汇”,在续写时选用一些超纲的词汇,以此来体现自己的高超水平,却弄巧成拙让续写内容与原材料在措辞上风格不一致。纵观近三年新高考全国Ⅰ卷读后续写原材料中的约300词并没有出现超纲词汇。叙事类文章,要保持语言的生动性与故事性,要表意、传情并且流畅,这些都远重要于个别词汇是否高级。

2.刻意追求句式多样化及“高级句式”。如[例1]中使用了两个被动语态结构 “an award ceremony would be held in three days”及 “When my name was announced, …”,但原材料的语言风格都是偏口语化,所使用的句子均为主动语态。此外,[例1]中“With prize cup in one hand and award certificate in the other hand, I threw my eyes at my teacher, who gave me a thumbs up, with his eyes twinkling with pleasure and pride.”考生使用了一个累赘的结构“with的复合结构作状语+主句+who引导的定语从句+with的复合结构”,全句共33词。简单的句意如果刻意用过于复杂的句式来表达的话反而会显得成分结构赘余,造成阅卷老师理解困难。

3.滥用修辞手法。原材料的句子是比较平实和口语化句子,而[例2]中 “I was seemly on the nine cloud”就使用了夸张的修辞,[例3]中使用了比喻。与作者“My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language.”的非英语为母语的人物形象不吻合。

4.续写内容中出现过多的直接引语。如[例4]中都是通过作者与老师之间直接的对话来进行续写,过多的对话会让文章显得啰嗦,缺乏紧凑感,并限制心理、动作等细节描写的空间,而且文章中加入过多的冒号和引号也会让阅卷老师看着乱。

三、下水作文赏析

A few weeks later, when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news. My essay ranked first!I could hardly believe it as I read the announcement on the school bulletin board. But after rechecking the announcement, I burst into tears. I was exactly the first-award winner! My hard work, persistence, and the support of my teacher had paid off. I was invited to deliver a speech on the award presentation. I explained why I chose this special subject and even acted out one-role play as Reveres horse on the stage, which made the audience laugh out. (87words)

I went to my teachers office after the award presentation. At the sight of him, I threw myself into his arms, showing him my trophy and certificate of honor proudly. He laughed happily and said, “Congratulations! If youre willing to apply yourself, youll have a good shot at everything.” At that moment, I realized that the true gift he gave me wasnt just the encouragement to enter the contest, but the belief in my own potential. With that belief, I would keep going on my path, like Reveres horse. (89words)

上文共11句,其中簡单句8句,复合句3句,符合原材料的句式特征。语言平实,既符合一个母语为非英语的中学生的语言特点,简洁不繁复,但形象生动,富有朝气活力。作者的情感与心理描写也合逻辑,续写内容与原材料故事发展走势相符,并与原材料环环相扣。

考生在平时进行读后续写练习过程中要养成揣摩原材料语言风格的习惯,根据原材料在词汇选择、句式、语法结构和修辞手法上进行遣词造句,如果原材料利用的简单句较多,而复合句较少,那么续写部分就应多利用简单句进行描写和叙事,而不要过多使用复合句。考生在阅读原材料时要留意简单句、复合句以及特殊句型,如强调句、倒装句、省略句等的使用情况,不能为追求词句的高级和复杂,刻意将不符合原材料语言风格的词句生搬硬套到续写内容中。在保证语篇连贯和语言风格一致的前提下,创造性地表达新的内容,这样才能让续写部分与原材料保持高度融合。
