Step 1 Original Experience(原体验):to share my travelling experience
T: Hello,boys and girls,nice to see you again.What would you like to do in your free time?
S:I like travelling.
T: I like travelling too.Travelling can make me feel relaxed.Would you like to go travelling with me?
Ss:Yes,we'd love to.
T: OK,let's enjoy a video about some places for travelling in China.After watching it,please tell me what places you can see in the video.
(Students watch the video.)
Step 2 Initial Experience(初体验):to talk about different places to go
T: Well,time's up.Can you tell me what places you can see in the video?
Ss: Hong Kong,Beijing,Qingdao,Xi'an,Suzhou,and Shenzhen.
T: While travelling,we often take many beautiful photos.Let's enjoy them.
S:Suzhou.
T: Suzhou is famous for its Chinese gar⁃dens.
(Teacher writes“Chinese gardens”on the blackboard.)
S:The Palace Museum.
T: It's in Beijing.It's one of the most im⁃portant museums in China.
(Teacher writes “museums” on the blackboard)
S:Li River,in Guilin.
T: There are green hills and mountains,and clean rivers.It's a place of natural beauty.
(Teacher writes“places of natural beau⁃ty”on the blackboard.)
S:It's Qingdao.
T:Yeah,we can see the blue sea.Qingdao is a seaside city.
(Teacher writes“seaside cities”on the blackboard.)
S:Dalian Ocean Park.
T:It's a theme park.
(Teacher writes“theme parks”on the blackboard.)
T: When traveling,we can also go to these five kinds of places in China.The Class1,Grade8 students are talking about dif⁃ferent kinds of places they like best,listen to their conversation and match the students with the places.

Step 3 Further Experience(深体验):to learn from others'travelling experiences
T:We know different students like differ⁃ent kinds of places for travelling.Let's show them around different kinds of places.
(Teacher shows pictures of Daniel,Mil⁃lie,Simon,Sandy,Kitty and photos of differ⁃ent kinds of places.)
T: This is Daniel,he likes Chinese gar⁃dens.What places can we take him to?
Ss: Suzhou,Yangzhou or Hangzhou,they are famous for Chinese gardens.
T: When can we take him to these plac⁃es? Which season is the best time to visit Chi⁃nese gardens?And why?
S: In spring.There are many colourful flowers in spring in Chinese gardens.We can enjoy flowers at that time of year.
T: Yes,I agree with you.There are many trees in Chinese gardens.In autumn,the leaves turn yellow,and they look golden,the views are wonderful too.
Ss: We can enjoy Chinese gardens in au⁃tumn.
T:Yeah,we can go to Chinese gardens in spring and autumn.Who's she? She's Millie.What kind of places does she like best?
Ss: Museums,we can take her to the Pal⁃ace Museum or Xi'an Museum.
T:When can we visit museums?
Ss:We can go to museums in spring,sum⁃mer,autumn and winter.
T: So we can go to museums in any sea⁃son.What about Simon?What places does he like best?
Ss: He likes places of natural beauty.We'd better take him to Mount Huang.
T:What can we do there?
Ss:We can climb hills or mountains.
T: Look at the photo.The view is very wonderful.Look at the ground,there is much snow on it,which season is it?
Ss:It's winter.
T:Can we go climbing in winter?
Ss:No.
T:Why not?
Ss: Because it's dangerous to climb hills or mountain on cold and snowy days.
T:So we can go to places of natural beau⁃ty in any season except winter.What other places can we show him around?
Ss:Jiuzhaigou or Zhangjiajie.
T: This is Sandy.What kind of places can we show Sandy around?
Ss: She likes seaside cities best.We'd better take her to Qingdao,Dalian or Hainan.
T:What can we do in seaside cities?
Ss:Swimming.
T: We can do water sports in seaside cit⁃ies,such as swimming and sailing.Which is the best season to do water sports?
Ss:Summer.
T:Who is she?What does she like best?
Ss:She is Kitty.She likes theme parks.
T: Which is the best season to visit theme parks?
Ss: We can go there in spring,summer and autumn.
T: That's to say we can go there all year round.The students are listening to a radio pro⁃gramme about the best season to visit different kinds of places,please listen and put a tick in the correct boxes.

T:Suppose you were a tour guide,some foreigners come to China for the first time,you give them some advice for travelling.

Step 4 New Experience(新体验):to make your own plans for travelling
T: May Day is coming.Amy wants to go travelling during the May Day holiday.Where is she going?
(Ss listen to the tape.)
Ss:Chengdu.
T: Ask and answer more questions in pairs.

S1:Who is Amy going with?
S2:Her mum.
S3:How is Amy going?
S4: She is going to take a direct flight to Chengdu.

T: The world is like a book and those who do not travel read only one page.If we have time and money,we'd better go travel⁃ling.What should we pay attention to while travelling?

Ss: Don't talk loudly in public.Don't drop litter everywhere.Don't walk on grass.Don't smoke in public.Don't engrave on the wall.
T: We should behave properly,above all,each of us must be a civilized tourist.
本单元属于“人与自然”主题范畴,涉及旅游相关的话题。本节课旨在帮助学生结合自身喜好,选择合适的旅游景点,并按照不同季节制定合适的旅行计划。本节课包含四个主要步骤:在原体验阶段,笔者借助视频,激活学生的知识储备,活跃课堂气氛,并拓宽学生视野。在初体验阶段,笔者引领学生欣赏祖国大好河山,谈论相关景点的地貌特征,并对其特征进行总结归纳。在深体验阶段,笔者邀请学生进行角色扮演,担当小导游,并上台接受同学们的咨询,这既调动了学生参与课堂的积极性,又培养了学生的逻辑思维和语言表达能力。在新体验阶段,笔者引导学生结合所学知识制定旅行计划,锻炼口头表达能力,培养小组合作精神和开放性思维能力。在最后的总结环节,笔者借助几组不文明的出行图片,启发学生思考并引起他们的共鸣,提醒他们要做文明的旅行者,帮助他们树立正确的价值观,这也体现了新课程标准的育人理念。
