一、教学内容分析
这个单元的话题是谈论未来的生活,呈现了“运用一般将来时预测未来”的语言功能项目。本课例Section B 2a-2e 是一节阅读课,谈论的是未来机器人发展的话题。
内容及处理方法方面:2a是读前活动,通过问题去了解学生对机器人的认知情况。2b是Do you think you will have your own robot?文本阅读,通过略读,让学生掌握各段大意和对文章的整体理解。2c-2d是阅读理解活动,2c通过细读携取有关机器人能干些什么工作的细节信息。2d是对语篇的缩写,通过填词转换文章表达方式,既加深对文章的理解,又加强学生的语用能力。2e是读后拓展活動,让学生发挥想象,对机器人的未来发展情况进行预测,并与同学展开讨论、分享观点。
二、学情分析
经过七年级的学习,八年级的学生已经具备一年的英语学习能力,有一定的听说能力。这个年龄段的学生想象力丰富,对未来世界充满好奇,有较强的求知欲。本节课教学设计选取了学生对机器人这个感兴趣的话题展开讨论并导入文本阅读,采用读前、读中、读后的多种阅读策略渗透的思路,利用思维导图优化阅读教学,逐步让学生理解文章,加强学生的阅读理解能力运用。
三、教学目标
Knowledge objectives:
1.Students can learn and master new words, phrases and sentences.
2.Enlarge their knowledge about robots.
3.Learn more reading strategies.
Ability objectives:
l. Enable the students to talk about their own robots in the future and create their imagination .
2.Enlarge their knowledge about robots and get more information.

Step 1 Warming up and lead-in
1.Watch a video .
2.Ask the following questions:

To stimulate students’interest by brainstorming. Ss will feel happy while watching and talking.
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Draw a draft of mind-map and put forward the topic about "robots".
2. Lead Ss to say what can robots do.
Conclude into the point: They will do the same things as humans.
【Design purpose】
The draft leads in today’s topic and it can focus students’attention to the class.
Step 3 While-reading
1.Task1Skimming: Read the article and match each paragraph with the questions.
2.Task2 Scanning. Read each paragraph and answer the questions:
(Para 1) What are robots like in movies?
(Para 2) What can robots do today?
(Para 3) Will robots think like humans in the future?
(Para 4) What will robots be like in the future?
3. Task 3 Scanning. Read and finish 2c ,answer the question "What can robots do?"
4. Task 4 Careful reading. Read Para 3 and Finish 2d. Fill in the blanks in this paragraph with words from the article.
5. Read Para 3 and think. Share the different views from the scientists.

To develop the skills of reading, it is important to teach the reading strategies of skimming, scanning, etc. We use mind-map to optimize English reading. Students read with tasks and gain the details of the article. It's helpful to improve their reading abilities and comprehensive ability.
