一、教學目标

1.知识目标

1）学习和掌握新的词汇：Thanksgiving， traditional， autumn， celebrate， prepare， mashed potatoes， mix

together， pepper， fill... with， oven， on a plate， cover…with， gravy， give thanks for， see….as， on special holidays.

2）学习并掌握火鸡餐的制作过程。

First， mix together some bread pieces， onions， salt and pepper.

Next， fill the turkey with this bread mix.

Then， put the turkey in a hot oven and cook it for a few hours.

When it is ready， place the turkey on a large plate and cover it with gravy.

Finally， cut the turkey into thin pieces and eat the meat with vegetables like carrots and potatoes.

3）学习感恩节的相关知识。

1）能够复述感恩节的相关知识和火鸡餐制作方法。

2）提升学生的阅读技巧，掌握故事的5个重要要素（when， why， how， where， what）。

二、教学重难点

1.学习并掌握新的词汇。

2.学会描述火鸡餐的制作过程。

三、教学内容与过程

Step I lead-in（3 分钟）

1）展示中国节日的图片并提问。 Do you know any special holidays in China？

2）展示国外节日的图片：What festivals do you know in western countries？

3）师生问答：What traditional food do we eat to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival？

We eat zongzi to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival.

What traditional food do we ear to celebrate Spring Festival？

We eat dumplings to celebrate Spring Festival.

Do you know any traditional food in the USA？ It's turkey.

设计意图：引起兴趣，让教学更自然生动。同时帮助学生理解重点单词：traditional，celebrate，special holidays ，turkey.

Step 2 Learn（10 分钟）

How to make a turkey dinner？

1）Learn the ingredients and tools.

2）Read part 2 and number the pictures （1--5） and then check the answers.

3）show students the pictures and they discuss how to make a turkey dinner.

4）Learn by steps.

5）Have a summary according to the pictures.

First， mix together some bread pieces， onions， salt and pepper.

Next， fill the turkey with this bread mix.

Then， put the turkey in a hot oven and cook it for a few hours.

设计意图：创设学习情景，按照整体——细节——整体的顺序学习，突破重难点。同时调整课文的学习顺序，符合认知规律，让后面的故事学习脉络更清晰。

Step 3 Learn in. （2分钟）

1）Ask and answer： When the people in the USA will eat turkey？ On Thanksgiving.

2）Watch a short video about Thanksgiving and learn the history of Thanksgiving.

设计意图：自然引入主题，增加趣味性。通过学习感恩节的历史，让学生理解感恩节的意义，为后面的情感教育铺垫。

Step 4 Learn the introduction of Thanksgiving. （21分钟）

1）Skimming （2分钟）  Task 1：  Read and tick.

2）Scanning：

Task 2： Read the part 1 and answer the following questions. （3分钟）

When do people celebrate Thanksgiving？

Why do people celebrate Thanksgiving？

How do people celebrate it now？

Where do people celebrate Thanksgiving？

what is the main dish of the Thanksgiving meal？

Task 3： Choose the best answers to fill in the blacks according to the text. （4分钟）

Task 4： Translate the following expressions into English. （3分钟）

Task 5： Read part 1 carefully and complete the mind map. （4分钟）

Task 6： Retell the story in groups. （5分钟）

设计意图：首先让学生带着问题阅读整篇故事，提升了教学的针对性。接着通过把握五个重要的元素和阅读方法指导，帮助学生进一步理解文章内容，提升了学生的阅读理解能力。然后学生完成不同的练习，理解和掌握重点词汇。最后学生通过小组合作复述全文，提升整体学习效果，实现了“整进整出”的目标。

Step 5 Think deeply （4 分钟）

1）师生问答：

What does Thanksgiving in North America thank for？

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for food in autumn and other good things people enjoy in life.

What are the good things in your life？

Have you still remembered the happy days with your family？

Watch a short video about the happy days with family.

We should always be thankful. 我們应该常常存有感恩的心。

2）Talk about the ways to show thanks.

3）Say thanks to all the students.
