Step1: Warm up
“Hickey pickety my red hen. ”
We sing a song together, giving the students the opportunity to make the “pops”, and try to count and say how many eggs they have laid.
Step2: Lead in
Good morning, everyone! Glad to see you again. Can you guess where I am today? Yes, you are right, Im in the library. Who are you going to be today? What will you do?
Yes! Today, you will be a smart librarian, you can classify many books and borrow someone books from the library. Do you know what kind of books in the library? Who wants to become a smart librarian?
Step3: Presentation
If you want to be a smart librarian, you should learn some information from the experienced librarian. Ready, go! Do you know what kind of books in the library? Yes, youre right. You know fiction and non-fiction books. Do you know why the books have numbers and letters. Yes, youre right. We can find the same genre books from the specific place easily.
In fact, we have more genres for our reading, such as folktale, informational, fairy tale, fantasy, biography, realistic fiction, fable, poetry. Do you remember the story of “Nate the Snake is Late”? That is a fantasy. Fictional stories that have some elements that are not true or cannot happen in this world (talking animals, magic, dragon, fairies etc)

Step4: Predict the story
Please look at the book, its name is “The Little Red Hen”. Where do I put it on the bookshelf? Yes, you are right. That is a folktale. Do you want to read it? Lets look at the cover. What do you see? What do you think? What do you wonder?
Step5: Watch a video and discuss the questions
