【Abstract】Because there exists differences between Chinese and British tea culture, this article mainly deals with strategies to build Chinese traditional tea culture theory combined with these differences. It is written from these aspects: theoretical Background, differences of Chinese and English tea culture and college English teaching and finally strategies to build Chinese traditional tea culture theory.

After the tea culture was introduced and integrated to European countries, Chinese and British tea culture has both commonalities and differences. So English teachers need to have a deep understanding of tea culture in order to integrate the differences into classroom teaching and realize the innovation of teaching mode.
Systemic functional linguistics regards people as the basic purpose and value rationality of language and attaches great importance to the dominant and dynamic role played by people as individual members of society in cognitive development and language communication. Therefore, in the process of constructing the theory of tea culture, we should pay attention to the cultivation of those who attach importance to the spirit of tea culture. In fact, in the field of education, language is an important common understanding proposition.
In Chinese cognition, the tea culture is not only a drink culture, but also a spiritual culture. Compared with the UK, the culture of tea is regarded as a material culture. In the current college English teaching, the training goal of the talents is higher and higher, and the English study will not only make the students fluent in English communication, business translation and so on, but also need to have higher English cultural quality. Therefore, modern college English teaching should be based on cultural differences.
Based on the contemporary mainstream culture management, we can find some cross-cutting and fusion between culture management and system functional linguistics theory. For example, under the guidance of this theory, the structure layout around the Chinese tea language can be divided into three parts, namely, “metaphysical level”, “the level of the middle-class” and “shape and lower level”, which represent the spiritual value philosophy content of the tea culture, the communication content of the tea culture and the material content of the tea culture. At the same time, the function of the tea culture can be actively developed in combination with the current trend of the development of the current tea culture industry , so the function of the tea culture can be extended from the traditional health-preserving, health-care function, social communication function and life-cultivation function, aesthetic function to more abundant industrial and economic function, even the function of education and the power of political diplomacy. So the theoretical construction of Chinese tea culture should adopt the idea of openness and intertextuality, and compare the Chinese tea ceremony with some excellent essence of foreign tea culture.
Intertextuality is a kind of phenomenon which is widely concerned by both translation and language scholars, and it is also the focus of research. When analyzing specific languages and theories, systemic functional Linguistics is a strategy of systematic thinking and situational thinking, which makes a special understanding of the text content in the special context. However, it also combines the existing research knowledge and background knowledge to carry out the comparative analysis under cross-cultural communication, which is a visual threshold of intertextuality and also constitutes a kind of intercultural communication behavior.
By analyzing tea culture in English study, students can have more English application ability and cultural literacy. It is of great significance for college English teaching to be divided into the cognition and understanding of the Chinese and English tea culture. We can give full play to the content of English teaching and make the atmosphere of the classroom more active to realize the extension of teaching finally.
