People in western countries①tend tocelebrate special occasions by going out for dinner. They might go to a French restaurant for snails,to a Spanish restaurant for tapas餐前小吃,or to a Japanese restaurant forsushi. However,Chinese restaurants are seen in a different light.
That’s because Chinese food is②typicallythought of in the West more of a kind of fast food—it’s mostly greasy and sweet.Of course,it’s also not very Chinese.Over the years,Chinese emigrants have changed classic recipes from their home country, and sometimes invent their own,to suit local tastes.
More recently, however, authentic真正的Chinese dishes have become more popular in foreign countries.Chinese people who moved abroad introduced most of these foods to the West. Most likely③tired oftheir country’s beloved dishes being misrepresented overseas, they decided to bring the real taste of China to foreign diners食客.And people there seem to love it.
Gone are the days of Chinese food simply meaning a bowl of greasy noodles without much flavor,or an unusual version of classic dishes like“orange Peking duck”.
In the US and UK,for example, there’s a current trend for authentic Chinese food.Hotpot andjianbingare the “in foods” right now at the coolest new restaurants in London and New York.
And in Russia, tanghuluhas become a popular street food.Evenlatiaois appearing overseas.④The reason forthese foods’ appeal to foreigners is simple—a lot of them⑤are similar tofoods already available in the West, although for others,it’s simply because they taste so great.
For example, roujiamois similar to the hamburger.Youtiaois kind of like the churro,a snack that’s popular in Spain.Andtanghuluis similar to candy apples, which are beloved by children and some adults in the US and UK.
But what do you⑥think aboutthese authentic Chinese foods? To⑦find out,we share our experiences with several of these dishes in this special issue.
Some of them are new to the West, likelatiao. But some of them, like Kung Pao chicken, have been popular in foreign countries for many years. And while they have already been familiar with a couple of the meals, others remain new to them.

Ⅱ.难句分析
1.Gone are the days of Chinese food simply meaning a bowl of greasy noodles without much flavor,or an unusual version of classic dishes like “orange Peking duck”.中国食物仅仅意味着一碗索然无味的、油腻的面条或一道独特的诸如“橙色北京烤鸭”的经典菜的时间一去不复返了。
Gone are the days of Chinese food为倒装句式,正常语序应为The days of Chinese food are gone,此处将表语提前;simply meaning...为现在分词作名词food的后置定语。
2.And while they have already been familiar with a couple of the meals, others remain new to them.
