Construction of First in the World Process Unit for Toluene Methylation with Methanol Passed Completion Acceptance Tests

On December 2017, the 200 kt/a unit for toluene methylation with methanol, the gasoline blending unit,the construction of pipeline for tranferring gasoline to the Qingjiang Pier, and other four projects have passed the completion asseptance tests. Among these projects the 200 kt/a unit for toluene methylation with methanol is the first in the world commercial-scale unit, more than 10 patents of which have been filed to formulate the SINOPEC’s proprietary package technology.The said 200 kt/a unit for toluene methylation with methanol is a technical resource developed by combining the technical advantages of the Yangzi Petrochemical Company, the Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute and the Luoyang Engineering Company to independently develop the novel technology by using kerosene fraction to increase the para-xylene production. After commissioning of this project,all technical indicators have reached the design norms to provide new feedstock resources to the customers.
