Brand story
1707, a boy named James Simba was born in Crewe, a small town in Cheshire, England. Influced by his father, a locally famous craftsman, James had strong hands-on ability when he was a child that often made and repaired clocks with his father in spare time, to increase household income.
In 1720, 13-year-old James became an apprentice of John Harrison by chance, a famous English clockmaker who invented the marine chronometer. Under the guidance of Harrison, James’ crasftsmanship got rapid progress, and it’s said that he could make any timepieces he'd just had a look.
James left Harrison in 1732 when he was 25 years old, and returned to his hometown where he was still devoted to the R&D of timepieces. The clocks and watches made by him had superior quality and high precision & accuracy, as well as exquisite decoration and ingenious design, which were, regarded as perfect in the accurate timepieces made in England, sought after by the English aristocracy in those days.
James Simba passed away in 1779, but his excellent techniques and his pursuit for meticulousness and perfection have been handed down from generation to generation in Crewe, later known as Crossbows Spirit.
In the mid-19thcentury, Crewe of Cheshire got known to the world for its new role as a large railway hub of England, which thus attracted a large number of businessmen. An English merchant engaged in the production and distribution of lenses therefore decided to create a lens brand named Crossbows in memory of the extraordinary craftsmanship of James Simba, owing to his special love for the timepieces made by the master as well as his story, spirit and excellent skills.

1720年,年仅13岁的詹姆斯在一次偶然的机会下有幸拜航海精密计时器的发明者、英国著名钟表大师约翰·哈里森(John Harrison)为师,在名师的精心指导下,詹姆斯技术突飞猛进。据说,凡是他所看过的钟表、计时器,都能够做出来。
1732年,25岁的詹姆斯告别师父回到家乡克鲁镇,继续醉心于钟表研制,他装配出的钟表不仅精密准确、品质优良,且均装饰华美,精巧绝伦,许多英国贵族在当时都对其制造的钟表爱不释手,追捧不已。其装制的钟表在整个英国被认为是精准时钟中的完美之作。
1779年,詹姆斯因病逝世,但他卓越的工艺与精湛的技术,以及追求缜密、严谨、精益求精的精神却影响了一代又一代的克鲁镇人,被后人称为“克鲁·视宝精神”。
19世纪中期,柴郡克鲁镇因成为英国铁路的大型中转站而闻名于世,吸引很多商人在此聚集、谋生。一位从事镜片生产制造与销售的英国商人因对詹姆斯制作的钟表特情有独钟,亦为他的故事和精神所吸引,更为他精湛的技艺所折服,决定打造一个名叫“克鲁·视宝”品牌的镜片,以此来纪念詹姆斯巧夺天工的技艺。由此,克鲁·视宝品牌在英国应运而生。
