Mars is the fourth planet far away from the sun in the Solar System. The planet is named after Mars, the Roman (罗马) god (神) of war. It is also called the “Red Planet” because of its reddish appearance, formed by iron oxide (氧化物) on its surface.
We are always wondering, “Is there life on Mars?” We all know that it is difficult for people on Earth to live on Mars because we need water and oxygen to survive, but there is little oxygen on Mars. Living on Mars seems to live on a very high mountain. There is very thin air. It might be 50 degrees above zero at noon and 100 degrees below zero at night.
A lot of people think there may be plants on Mars. We know that Mars has carbon (碳). This is a kind of material found in all plants and animals on Earth. Through a telescope(望远镜), Mars looks red. In some places, it seems grey. At times the grey color turns grey-green, then brown, and then grey again. At first scientists thought the red planet was as lifeless as the moon with dust storms blowing over the large sandy deserts (沙漠). But Mars seems not as dry as we once believed it to be. According to an analysis(分析) on the recent Mars pictures, some scientists believe there is a lot of ice on Mars and water is still in the form of ice. If there is water, there will be hope of finding life on Mars.

Venus is the second planet from the sun and the sixth largest. Venus orbit is the most nearly circular of that of any planet, with an eccentricity(离心率) of less than 1%.
It seems impossible today, but by the year 2314, we will be able to live on Venus. Here is a guide to what I think life on Venus will be like in the future.
First of all, the temperature on Venus is too high to support life. However, scientists will try to find a way to build spacesuits and space houses to keep us cool and safe from the heat. It will use the power of the sun. Everything will be very expensive on Venus because they are from Earth. On Venus, the food will be very dry and tasteless. If you have a lot of money, you can buy the food that comes from Earth every week.
The best thing about life on Venus is the transport. Because there are fewer people on Venus than on Earth, there is more space and fewer cars on the road. Also, high-speed electronic trains connect peoples homes to everywhere else. You can go to school, go shopping and go to work fast, safely and conveniently (方便地), just within minutes.
6. Spacesuits and space houses on Venus will use the power of ________.
A. the sun B. Earth C. Venus D. wind
7. Some food on Venus is expensive because ________.
A. its dry B. its tasteless
C. its from Earth D. its tasty
8. Scientists will try to build ________ to keep us cool and safe from the heat.
A. high-speed electronic trains
B. cars
C. spacesuits and space houses
D. bus stations
9. The transport on Venus is safe and convenient, you can ________ easily and fast.
A. go to school, go hiking and go to work
B. go to school, go to work and go shopping
C. go to the cinema, go shopping and go to work
D. run and walk
10. According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A. We will be able to live on Venus by the year 2134.
B. The temperature on Venus is too high to support life.
C. Venus is the sixth planet from the sun and the second largest.
D. People cant go everywhere on Venus.

One girl, who had lost her left arm in a car accident, decided to study judo(柔道). The girl was doing well, but she couldnt understand why her coach had taught her only one move using her right hand after three months of training.
“Coach,” the girl finally asked, “shouldnt I learn more moves?”
“This is the only move you know and will need to know,” the coach replied.
