Golden Rooster Village, known as Jinjizhuang in Chinese, is a small village with only dozens of households in Guanshui Town, southwest of Muping. Built on a hillside, the village has a history of several hundred of years according to the village monument. The name of this village is easy to pronounce, pleasant to the ears and rich in meanings. But how has the village got this name?
Once upon a time, there was a large water bay nearby the mountain and a spring in the bay kept bubbling up all the year round. The bay had never been dry because of the constantly flowing spring water, which had nurtured the villagers and irrigated the land here for generations. Around the bay lived dozens of households. With mountains and water as well as the kind and hardworking villagers, the life here was so happy and peaceful that many people who came here to beg for food would decide to stay. The kind-hearted villagers helped them reclaim wasteland and build houses to settle down here.
