Effect of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment on clinical efficacy， pain and TCM symptom score of lumbar disc herniation patients

[Abstract] Objective To explore the influence of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment on clinical efficacy， pain and TCM symptom score of patients with lumbar disc herniation. Methods A total of 300 patients in our hospital with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation from July 2018 to December 2019 were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group， with 150 cases in each group. The control group was received conventional western medicine treatment. The observation group was received TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment based on the treatment in the control group. The clinical efficacy， pain degree and the TCM symptom scores before and after the treatment between two groups were compared. Results The excellent and good rate in the observation group  was 94.67%， which was significantly higher than that of 86.67% in the control group， with significant difference（P<0.05）. Before the treatment， there was no significant difference in pain degree between the two groups（P>0.05）. Immediately after treatment and 3 months after treatment， the pain scores in the observation group were （2.52±0.76）points and（1.12±0.31）points， which were significantly lower than those in the control group，with significant difference （P<0.05）. Before treatment， there was no significant difference in TCM symptom scores between the two groups（P>0.05）. After treatment， subjective symptom scores， clinical signs scores and daily activity scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group，with significant difference（P<0.05）. Conclusion Adopting TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment for patients with lumbar disc herniation can effectively improve the treatment effect of patients， and is helpful to improve the pain and TCM symptom score of patients after treatment.
