Task 1
I am a very nostalgic (怀旧的) person. When I go on trips I keep everything from bus tickets to leaflets(小冊子) and I always take hundreds of photographs to look at when I get home. I love thinking of exciting adventures I have had. Having something physical to look at makes it easier. One of the most interesting ways to remember things is to read old letters, either ones that you have sent to yourself or those you have received from someone else.
Living abroad this year has really made me think about how I keep in contact with my family and friends. One of the things I enjoy doing most is writing them letters. I sit down with a cup of tea and write down everything exciting that has happened to me in the past few weeks or so since I last spoke to them. It forces me to think about all the amazing things which have happened and by writing it down, reminds me of how lucky I am to be able to experience so many new things. You can also leave a letter and come back to it later when you have thought of more things to write, which is also helpful if you don't have much time as you can write it over a few days.
Not only is writing letters an excellent thing to do, but I always think the best bit is when you receive a letter in reply! There is something so exciting about receiving post, especially when the address is handwritten. You can see that somebody has put time and effort into contacting you. It is so special to have a box full of old letters, and reading them back years later reminds you of all the exciting things you once did. In a world where we update our friends constantly over social media, it is easy to forget to reach out to people personally and I think that by writing a letter, even just a note on the back of a postcard, you remind people that you are thinking of them. In ten or twenty years, is social media still going to be around and are we still going to be able to look back at our memories and see what we were doing? Nobody knows, but having something physical to hold such as a letter means you will always have those memories.

What motivates people is often different, but to create a level of inspiration that will last, you need to get clear on your values. Recognizing the meaning behind your motivation will help you stick with your health goals. The following do's and don'ts can help you stay motivated:
Do set goals that are appealing to you
Making a change is easier when you value your goal. You'll be more likely to stay the course because you will be doing things you generally enjoy. 1 But it doesn't have to feel like a boring task.
Do dig deep to find your inner motivation
2 The first thoughts that come to mind might be superficial(膚浅的), but keep digging. You'll eventually come to conclusions that will give you a burning desire to succeed.
Don't follow pressure-based motivators
If you do something to impress someone else or because you are being pressured, then it will be hard for you to stick with it. 3 That way, you'll be less likely to give up when you face barriers.
4
You're more likely to do things you're good at or that you enjoy. So focusing on those things can help you stay motivated and reach your goals.
Now that you know how to improve motivation, don't throw in the towel when a roadblock arises.

Task 5
At the beginning of July, my friend Gong Shengping and I volunteered for two months in Morocco, for an educational project called “Youth Got Talent”. Run under a large non-profit organization, our mission(使命) was to teach French and Chinese to volunteers at a local NGO as well as to conduct a survey on tobacco use among young people.
While we were reading about Morocco online in preparation for our trip, we came across some disturbing advice. Visitors to Morocco, it read, often meet small children asking for money. In these circumstances, they should immediately turn around and walk away. We couldn't help but feel somewhat angry by these comments. People certainly aren't forced to help others, but they don't need to support cold indifference(冷淡), either.
The director of the association informed us about the high percentage of children who drop out of school and took us to visit a slum(貧民窟) in an old city. Most families would often have several children whom they couldn't afford to send to school. Although public schools in Morocco are free, some parents don't have enough money to buy books and stationery(文具). Some children were victims of child labor, and others roamed(闲逛) the streets selling tissues.
After we recovered from our shock, we decided to do something to help pull these kids out of poverty(贫穷). We started a project called “1,001 Stories of the Sahara”, through which we cooperated(合作) with local NGO members to record the stories of the children living in Morocco's slums. These stories were then posted on the project's public account on social media.
By exposing people to the difficult social reality facing the Moroccan poor, we hoped that more people would consider the causes of poverty when they came across small children asking for money and extend(给予) a little sympathy rather than following online advice and walking away from them.
