【Abstract】Self-built small scale HND program human resource management major parallel corpus is flexible and efficient. This kind of corpus can help to arrange the teaching materials, improve teachers comprehensive cultural accomplishment and enhance students interests in learning if applied in HND program teaching. According to the characteristics of HND program clear purposes should be set before the establishment time of the parallel corpus and appropriate sources should be adopted to control the scale of it in order to better serve the HND programs English teaching.

I. Introduction
In recent years, college English teaching has undergone a series of development and reform in China. English for Specific Purposes (ESP) refers to a specific occupation or discipline related English courses. The College English Teaching Guide from Ministry of Education pointed out that college English teaching should focus on the development of students' common language skills and further enhance their academic or vocational English communication skills. It should enable students to use English to communicate effectively in daily life and any other different areas or contexts.
HND program is a national program which supported by the Chinese Embassy in UK, British Government of Scotland and British Council of Culture, Chinese Ministry of Labor Vocational Skills Center and China Enterprise Confederation. This program has high quality curriculum system, advanced teaching philosophy, academic and professional combination curriculums. The courses in HND program are mainly ESP courses. As the author is one of the teachers in HND program. So this paper will focus on the applications of small scale HND program human resource management major parallel corpus in ESP teaching.
Corpus uses language materials collected form language research and preserved in electronic form. It consists by written samples or natural spoken language samples and used to represent a particular language or language variant. Parallel corpus refers to a corpus that can be used for full-text retrieval of source text and translation text and which is mainly used in the fields of translation and dictionary compilation. In foreign language teaching, large parallel corpus is often very expensive to use and in order to solve these problem self-built small parallel corpus get into peoples attention.
Self-built small scale HND program human resource management major parallel corpus refers to the use of linguistic research methods and statistical principles, through professional literature sampling and corpus statistical analysis software to generate a bilingual sample corpus. This kind of corpus can be used in ESP teaching and can play a good supporting role. Students in HND program use all written in English textbooks which full of unfamiliar English terminology, all the assessment should be finished in English and follow the same standards like Scotlands students do. All these situations making the actual teaching process produced many problems. So the author believes that self-built small parallel corpus could solve some problems.
II. Self-built small scale HND program human resource management major parallel corpus can provide the source for ESP teaching materials
HND program teachers could base on the real context and other cases to build a small parallel corpus. They could mix a British background case material into Chinese environment and with quantitative tools to reveal complex and changing correspondence bilingual conversion. In addition, the corpus has accurate statistics on the frequency and fixed collocation of the using words. With these help ESP teachers can not only develop the syllabus, prepare the core vocabulary but also can directly extract the corpus content to make preparation for the classroom exercises. Teachers can also select professional and related topics tailor-made simple and easy understanding ESP teaching materials. Self-built corpus is advancing with times and can absorb frontline dynamic information to enrich the original inventory content.
III. Self-built small scale HND program human resource management major parallel corpus helps to improve the comprehensive cultural literacy of teachers
The corpus should be based on the authenticity and representativeness material. The corpus material should be collected form the original language materials from real life. It should access to the maximum coverage of an industry's main content, objectively reflect the languages general picture. With the help of statistical tools, through the study of these highly representative materials teachers can be more systematically and effectively learning of professional knowledge. A large number of specific professional contents related to high-frequency, standardized and accurate bilingual paradigm from the corpus can provide them valuable information to inductive pragmatic law. Corpus as a modern language research and the crystallization of science and technology provides a broad platform for teachers' career development and self-learning.
IV. Self-built small scale HND program human resource management major parallel corpus helps to improve students' interests in learning
The corpus can provide a large number of real bilingual control examples which are easy to use. It can be used for classroom teaching and post-class self-study which provides guarantee for achieve an autonomy, personalized, three-dimensional foreign language learning model. Secondly, the learner can refer to the vocabulary using habit and using frequency statistics summed up the universal application pragmatic law to grasp the knowledge points quickly. So the establishment of a small parallel corpus helps to improve the learning efficiency and which helps to enhance the interests of learners involved in the course and overcome the barriers of learning professional terms as soon as possible. It can simulate similar training scenarios so that students can become familiar with the future academic or professional environment. Since the corpus is self-built it can be always updated and perfected which can attract the attention of college students and stimulate their curiosity. In summary, self-built small parallel corpus is efficient and flexible and can be updated at any time. It has a relatively broad use prospects and potential development value in the HND ESP teaching.
V. Principles for building a corpus
First, clear building target. The purpose of constructing a small parallel corpus is to help language learners understand the phenomenon of language and master the language using principle. Therefore, it should be a small corpus with professional representation and designed to help learners understand the language phenomena. Second, reasonable corpus sources. Self-built small parallel corpus is used by English teachers and students of HND programs. Therefore, the source of the corpus should be based on professional basic literature, covering the main contents related to human resources management. After scientific selection and labeling, these language materials should be able to accurately and comprehensively reflect the main features of language and its using principle. Third, appropriate corpus capacity. Language learners could through corpus retrieval and frequency statistics make observation and grasp the linguistic facts, analysis and study of the language using principle. If the corpus is too small will make it difficult to reflect the overall characteristics of language. If the corpus is too large the construction process will be relatively long. So it is advisable to suggest that such a corpus is should has less than 100,000 words.
The small self-built parallel corpus can provide reliable resources and tools for students to study professional English, and effectively promote the development of HND program. It is foreseeable that this kind of corpus will become an effective tool for foreign language teachers, language learners and researchers, and effectively promote our college English teaching to a new level.
