Next-generation communication systems will play a pivotal role in supporting an intensely immersive and interconnected global landscape. In this dynamic realm, the exchange of enormous volumes of data between physical entities, individuals, and their digital devices has become the norm. The Smart Electromagnetic Environment (SEME) is a rapidly evolving paradigm aiming at revolutionizing the design of next-generation mobile communication systems. It is founded on the main idea that the environment is no more an obstacle to wireless signals, but instead enables controlling and tailoring the propagation of electromagnetic waves.
This special section aims to provide a platform for publishing the most advanced original and innovative research results in any field related to SEME.The journal seeks to encapsulate the latest trends and confrontations inherent to the realm of SEME,delving into the evolving landscape of its scientific and technological facets.By presenting state-of-the-art studies on theories and applications,it offers scientists and engineers a forum for discussing and exchanging academic insights,as well as promoting a global ecology in the society of electromagnetics.
TheJournal of Electronic Science and Technology(JEST) plans to publish the special section onSmart Electromagnetic Environment (SEME)regularly. We welcome the submission of both research articles and review articles that shed light on the latest breakthroughs in research outcomes and industrial implementations within this domain.Of particular interest are articles that spotlight novel methodologies designed to surmount the prevailing challenges within SEME.
Potential topics include, but not limited to:
◆ Electromagnetic skins and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces
◆ Optimization-based strategies for synthesizing a desired field distribution
◆ Modeling and analysis of electromagnetic environment
◆ Synthesis of smart EM devices and antennas
◆ SEME applications (communications,sensing,localization,wireless power transfer,and metaverse)
