4 Some netizens questioned whether the platform under the Buddhas feet is also part of the “real body” of the Buddha.

5 Some Leshan local literature and history researchers believe that it is nonsense that the “real body” of the Buddha is completely exposed. This year, due to the drought, the water level dropped, which caused more of the rock mass under the water to expose, but this part obviously does not belong to the “real body” of the Buddha.

6 Regarding the statement that the “real body” of the Buddha is fully exposed on the Internet, an official of the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Spot Management Committee also said that this statement was definitely wrong. Even when the huge flood came in 2020, it was only submerged to the toes, and the body of the Buddha was all exposed. How come the “real body” is now fully exposed?

7 The Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Spot Management Committee stated that at 12:00 on August 18, 2022, the water level of the Leshan Giant Buddha platform was 1.69 meters lower than the normal water level for the same period in August last year, and 10.53 meters lower than the “8.18” flood water level in 2020.
