July 1, 2022: Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivers an important speech at a meeting celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hong Kongs return to the motherland and the inaugural ceremony of the sixth-term government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

In the landmark speech, Xi said that “one country, two systems” has been tested and proven ideal time and again, and that there is no reason to change the system and it must be maintained for the long run.

Kulangsu Island, a historic international settlement in southeastern Chinas Fujian Province, was added to UNESCOs World Cultural Heritage List on July 8, 2017.

June 11 was Chinas annual Cultural and Natural Heritage Day this year. In celebration of the day, more than 6,300 online and offline events were organized across the country. Themed “Cultural Relics Protection: Advancing with the Times and Shared with the People,” the events highlighted achievements in cultural relic protection and enrichment of peoples cultural lives in recent years.

With a total of 56 inscriptions on UNESCOs World Heritage List, China is proud of its rich cultural, natural, and mixed World Heritage sites. In 2006, China started to celebrate Cultural Heritage Day on the second Saturday of June every year.
