Recently, Jiangsu New Times Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. signed a contract with Mediterranean Shipping Company(MSC) to build 20 LNG dual-fueled container ships of two types, which is not only the largest order since its establishment in 2000, but also the largest single dual-fueled ship order in China's shipbuilding industry. Coupled with the 20-ship order, New Times Shipbuilding dual-fueled handheld ship orders reached 51 ships, 7.573 million DWT, ranking first among Chinese shipyards.
The above two-type 20 container ships include ten 8100 TEU LNG dual-fueled container ships and ten 11400 TEU LNG dual-fueled container ships. According to an exclusive interview of China Shipbuilding News, the two types of ships are developed and designed by the CSSC Shanghai Shipbuilding Design and Research Institute (SDARI).
Among them, 8100 TEU LNG dual-fueled container ship has an overall length of 260 m, a molded width of 45.6 m, design draft of 12.5 m, and 11400 TEU LNG dual-fueled container ship has an overall length of 335 m, a molded width of 45.6 m,and design draft of 12.5 m. The two types of ships are both equipped with LNG dual-fuel propulsion system, and adopt the "ammonia-ready" design, and performance optimization software, etc. Compared with their peers, the two types of ships have better performance indicators and more reefer containers, both are green, intelligent and futureoriented new ships.
This is the first time SDARI has ever undertaken a design order of more than 10000TEU ship. Thanks to more than ten years of dedicated R&D of the SDARI container ship R&D team,SDARI has completed multi-type project AiP in the 10000TEU ship R&D. Over the period of 2019 to 2021,new design orders of SDARI accounted for 27.5% of the world total, and 43.3%in China.
It is the second time New Times Shipbuilding has accepted a container ship order from MSC. New TImes Shipbuilding used to mainly build bulk carriers and tankers, with a small number of container ships delivered, including seven 8800TEU container ships for MSC and four 10622TEU container ships for CIMC, all delivered between 2014 and 2015. New Times Shipbuilding returned to the container ship market last year, takin orders for four 13000 TEU container ships from the Greek owner Chartworld and six 7000 TEU container ships from Singapore's Eastern Pacific Shipping(EPC).
Since the beginning of this year,New Times Shipbuilding has adhered to both epidemic prevention and control and production and operation, and has made every effort to ensure production, seize orders and expand the market. At present, New Times Shipbuilding holds orders of 94 ships, 11.56 million DWT,production plan has been scheduled until 2026. This year, 28 ships, or 3.849 million DWT have laid down, 29 ships or 4.36 million DWT have laid keel, 23 ships or 3.664 million DWT have been launched, 21 ships or 3.191 million DWT are scheduled for completion and delivery, and 9 ships have been completed and delivered.
In the face of uncertainties of the external environment, New Times Shipbuilding will further strengthen planning control, rationally allocate resources, implement fine management, and ensure the completion of key project nodes on time.
Next, New Times Shipbuilding will continue to aim at the international market demand, with high technology ships and dual-fueled ships as the main direction, strengthen technical investment, talent reserve and product development, promote "intelligent remolding and digital transformation"with greater efforts, grab international competition commanding heights with more high technology content and high value-added new products, and contribute more to the Jiangsu"shipbuilding province" goal.
