对于技术,既不能轻视,也不必讴歌。审时度势的态度绝非是在进与退之间试图折衷的无奈,而是站在更高格局上的总揽,这是作为建筑技艺的一份应有的从容!我国有着传统木结构营造的悠久历史,但因现代建造的多种需求以及新型结构材料的出现,木材逐渐被取代。近年来,随着建筑业可持续、绿色、节能减碳等概念的传播,新型工程木材及其木结构技术重新被认知,一系列研究与实践正逐步展开。本期特邀东南大学建筑学院副教授郭屹民和东京工业大学环境社会理工学院建筑学系助理教授平辉作为客座主编,就正交胶合木这种重木结构工程木材的特性、研究、应用及建筑学意义进行综合阐释。

正交胶合木=CLT,这个对于大多数人而言陌生的名字,却有着横贯技术与情感的能量。正交胶合木一方面保留着木材固有的亲近感、轻量化、节能性、加工性等方面的传统优点,同时又具有防火性、抗震性、均质性、不变形等现代化材料的特点。几乎全能的优异特性使得正交胶合木既可以围护空间,又能够承重抗震,同时又固碳环保、循环再生。由此,正交胶合木正迅速成为当今建筑材料中的“明星”也就无需惊讶了。可以说,正交胶合木的出现,使得那些彷徨于结构性能与审美情怀间的踌躇不再纠结,同时也更激起我们对于木结构这门古老技艺以新的思考的冲动。尽管还是会不可免俗地落入时下流行着的“双碳”印象,但我们的确更为相信正交胶合木作为一种新型木构材料,它具有革新木构在结构与形式上的既有套路的可能。胶合木作为一种成熟于20世纪20年代的新型木构材料,在其将近百年的发展历程中不断精进与完善,却始终无法摆脱线性架构的形式制约,终于在正交胶合木的横空出世中得以华丽转身。

本期专辑呈现了来自于国内外正交胶合木在建筑设计、制造生产、法规建设等不同视角的发展情况,为我们从多维视角了解正交胶合木之于建筑设计的可能性提供了新的视野!

For technology,we should neither despise nor praise it.The attitude of judging the situation is not the helplessness of trying to compromise between advance and retreat,but the overall view of standing on a higher pattern,which is a proper calm for architectural technique! China has a long history of traditional wood structure buildings,but due to the various needs of modern construction and the emergence of new structural materials,wood has been gradually replaced.In recent years,with the spread of the concepts of sustainability,green,energy conservation and carbon reduction in the construction industry,new engineering wood and its wood structure technology have been recognized again,and a series of research and practice are gradually under way.In this issue,Guo Yimin,the associate professor of the School of Architecture of Southeast University,and Ping Hui,the assistant professor of the Department of Architecture of the Institute of Environmental and Social Science and Technology of Tokyo Institute of Technology,were invited as guest editor-in-chiefs to comprehensively explain the characteristics,research,application,and architectural significance of cross-laminated timber,a kind of mass timber structural engineering wood.

Cross-laminated timber=CLT,a strange name for most people,has the energy of crossing technology and emotion.On the one hand,CLT retains the traditional advantages of wood's inherent closeness,lightweight,energy-saving,machinability and other aspects,but also has the characteristics of modern materials such as fire resistance,seismic resistance,homogeneity and non-deformation.The excellent properties of almost all-around make CLT not only protect the space,but also bear the weight and earthquake resistance,and at the same time,it can also fix carbon,protect the environment and recycle.Therefore,it is no surprise that CLT is rapidly becoming the "star" of today's building materials.It can be said that the appearance of CLT makes those hesitations between structural performance and aesthetic feelings no longer tangled,and it also arouses our impulse to think about the ancient technology of wood structure with new ideas.Although it will inevitably fall into the popular "dual carbon" impression,we do believe that as a new wood structure material,CLT has the possibility of innovating the existing patterns of wood structure and form.Glue-laminated timber(GLT),as a new wood structure material matured in the 1920s,has been continuously refined and improved in nearly 100 years,but it has always been unable to get rid of the formal constraints of the linear structure,and finally turned around magnificently in the emergence of CLT.

This issue presents the development of CLT from different perspectives such as architectural design,manufacturing and production,and regulation at home and abroad,providing us with a new view to understand the possibility of CLT in architectural design from a multi-dimensional perspective!
