[Abstract] Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of montelukast sodium combined with budesonide in the treatment of senile bronchial asthma. Methods A total of 96 senile patients with bronchial asthma admitted to and treated in our hospital from May 2017 to May 2020 were selected for research, and they were divided into the control group(n=48)and the observation group(n=48) according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with budesonide, while the observation group was treated with montelukast sodium combined with budesonide. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated, and the indices of pulmonary function and blood gas analysis were detected before and after treatment. The indices of pulmonary function included the forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1) and the peak expiratory flow rate(PEF). And the indices of blood gas analysis included the partial pressure of blood oxygen(PaO2) and the partial pressure of blood carbon dioxide(PaCO2). The two groups of indices were compared and analyzed. Results The total effective rate was 95.83% in the observation group, which was higher than that of control group(81.25%), with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no statistically significant differences in the indices of pulmonary function and blood gas analysis between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, FEV1, PEF and PaO2 in the observation group were (2.08±0.74)L, (1.78±0.46)L/s and (80.05±10.25)mmHg,which were higher than those in the control group(1.65±0.56)L, (1.45±0.35)L/s and(74.23±10.02) mmHg,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05), PaCO2 in the observation group were(40.03±2.78)mmHg,which were lower than those in the control gro(44.09±3.26) mmHg, respectively, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). Conclusion The application of montelukast sodium combined with budesonide in the treatment of senile bronchial asthma can increase the therapeutic efficacy, better improve the indices of pulmonary function and blood gas analysis. Therefore, it is worthy of application.
