The sage on yellow crane was gone amid clouds white.

To what avail is Yellow Crane Tower left here?Once gone, the yellow crane will never on earth alight;Only white clouds still float in vain from year to year.

By sunlit river trees can be counted one by one;On Parrot Islet sweet green grass grows fast and thick.

Where is my native land beyond the setting sun?The mist-veiled waves of River Han make me homesick.

昔人已乘黄鹤去，

此地空余黄鹤楼。

黄鹤一去不复返，

白云千载空悠悠。

晴川历历汉阳树，

芳草萋萋鹦鹉洲。

日暮乡关何处是？

烟波江上使人愁。

崔颢(704—754)，汴州(今河南开封)人，原籍博陵安平(今河北省安平县) ，唐朝著名诗人，曾担任许州扶沟县尉，官位一直不显，后游历天下，天宝九年（750）前后曾任监察御史，官至司勋员外郎，天宝十三年（754）卒。

他最为人称道的是那首《黄鹤楼》，据说李白为之搁笔，曾有“眼前有景道不得，崔颢题诗在上头”的赞叹。 崔颢秉性耿直，才思敏捷，其作品激昂豪放，气势宏伟，现存有《崔颢集》。
