Application of situational teaching method in nursing English

Abstract: For a long time, the traditional teaching method we have adopted is not suitable for the development of society. The application of situational teaching method is the general trend and meets the needs of today's employment. This paper will introduce the primary development and advantages of situational teaching method.

Situational Teaching Method, from its name may be derived its meaning, it is to create situations in the teaching process in order to increase the activity of teaching. Situational teaching mode is to guide students to study independently by case or situation, so as to improve students' ability to analyze and solve practical problems. Intel international English is to use leading information technology to create situations with pictures and texts, it can mobilize students' various senses, combine teaching with pleasure, speed up the understanding of English, and make a leap from "static learning" to "dynamic learning" of traditional teaching tools, so that students can improve learning efficiency.

Ⅰ The theoretical basis of situational teaching method

More than 300 years ago, the Czech educator Comenius wrote in the 《Great Didactic of Comenius》: "all knowledge starts from the senses.” This kind of exposition reflects an important aspect of students' cognitive law in the teaching process: intuitive can make abstract knowledge concrete and visualized, and make students better immerse themselves in the scene. On the one hand, it can make students achieve abstract and rational insight from image perception; on the other hand, it can stimulate students' learning emotion and interest, and make learning activities become students' active and conscious activities.

Ⅱ Advantages of situational teaching method

1.In line with the development needs of the times, improve the practical application ability

In nursing English teaching, there are many teaching methods, such as case method, direct method, grammar translation method, situational teaching method and so on, but the situational teaching method has a unique role and effect,and as a highly practical course, nursing English can arbitrarily find a topic, such as registration, treatment, nurse shift handover, emergency room, injection, discharge, nursing, medical record filling and so on all can become a scene, highly operational, students combined with a variety of learning activities inside and outside the classroom to carry out practical exercises, help to improve students' enthusiasm for learning.

2.Not only help students understand a certain clinical working environment, but also to make English and nursing combined

Due to the strong pertinence of nursing English, in order to ensure that the content of nursing English is closely related to clinical practice, teachers should not only do a lot of preparation before class, but also be good at guiding students to use their medical knowledge to carry out English listening and speaking training. Teachers introduce or create a certain clinical working environment, which can make the students in the clinical situation, make the abstract knowledge specific, visualized and interesting, attract the students' attention, and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning.

Ⅲ Applied talents are becoming more and more market demand

In recent years, great changes have taken place in the concept of nursing teaching. From the perspective of classroom teaching, if the conventional and fixed teaching mode is not broken, nursing students will feel boring, and the classroom atmosphere will be quite dull. Once the students get tired of psychology, it will form a vicious circle and the teaching quality cannot be improved. If want to change this situation, it is a good method to use situational teaching reasonably.

Ⅳ The rise of situational teaching method

In recent years, medical colleges have set up a precedent of medical English, and more pharmaceutical groups, multinational enterprises, academic exchanges need such talents. With the development of internationalization of hospitals, many hospitals have set up international departments, which requires nurses to speak English well and learn professional English well. So a nurse who has a good command of nursing English can have the opportunity to be an excellent international nurse, contact with more international nursing concepts, receive more foreign patients, and be the international leader of foreign hospitals. This requires that the current education should be based on the students' future career development needs, strengthen the improvement of students' English ability as the teaching concept, strengthen the application and practicability of English, and avoid appearing dumb English.
