一般母亲在就餐前问儿子想吃/喝点什么,用的是“What would you like to have/drink?”,这是比较婉转、客气的说法。类似的说法还有“What do you want to have/eat?”,但这样的语气会显得较为生硬。
2) 告诉对方自己想吃/喝点什么,常用“I’d like to have/drink…”。
/No, thanks.”。
4) 服务员询问客人是否想点菜时,常说“May I take your order now?/Would you like to order now?”,意为“现在您想点菜了吗?”。
1 What do you do?
— What do you do?
— I’m a car salesman.
分析▲“What do you do?”是“What do you do for a living?(你是靠什么来谋生的?)”
2 That’s very kind of you.
— That’s very kind of you.
— Not at all.
分析▲“That’s very kind of you.”和“Thank you very much.” “That’s...”
1) That’s very nice of you.
2) That’s very kind of him.
1) Not at all.
2) It was nothing.
3) Any time.
3 My pleasure.
— Thank you so much.
— My pleasure.
分析▲“My pleasure.”是相当正式的说法,你可以把它想成是“It has been my pleasure to help you.(能够帮助你是我的荣幸。)”
1) “I’m glad to meet you.” “The pleasure is all mine.”“很高兴认识你。”
2) “Could you help me for a minute?”
4 Have a nice day!
— Bye, dad. Have a nice day at the offce!
— You have a nice day too, Billy.
对即将出门参加聚会的人,你可以对他说“Have a good time!”或“Have fun!”;而对那些要外出旅行的人,则可以对他们说“Have a wonderful/an enjoyable trip!”,这是一种相当能表达善意的说法。
5 May I help you?
— May I help you?
— No, thank you. I’m just looking around.
1) No, thank you.
2) I think I can manage. Thank you anyway.
3) Thank you all the same.
6 Pardon me?
— Do you have the time?
— Pardon me?
— What time is it?
分析▲“Pardon me?”和“I beg your pardon?”,它们均与“Excuse me?”
对话中,“Do you have the time?” 同学们要区分清楚,如果有人问你“Do you have the time?”,你可千万别回答“Yes, I do./Of course I have.”,不然就要被人笑掉大牙了哦!
