1 Reduction Effects onSPADValues of Wheat Leaves and Its Correlation with Yield under Waterlogging StressHUANGQin-you,TIANWen-taoCollegeofAgronomy,YangtzeUniversity,Jingzhou,Hubei434025,ChinaWANGXiao-lingCollegeofAgronomy,YangtzeUniversity;HubeiCollaborativeInnovationCenterforGrainIndustry(YangtzeUniversity),Jingzhou,Hubei434025,ChinaAbstract: The reduction effects onSPADvalues of wheat(Triticumaeestivum) leaves and its correlation with yield under waterlogging stress were carried out.The field experiment was conducted at flowering stage of wheat. One hundred and sixty four cultivars or advanced lines were used as experiment materials, which were collected from different wheat-planting areas, and an artificial simulation waterlogging treatment was designed with normal water condition as control in the trial.SPADvalues were measured respectively before waterlogging treatment and after the treatment in the plots of treatment and control.Yield was measured at maturity stage. The waterlogging indexes both ofSPADvalues of different leaves and yield were calculated for different wheat cultivars and compared. The results showed thatSPADvalues of wheat were significantly reduced at flowering stage under waterlogging condition and theSPADvalues showed significant difference for leaves in different stem positions.SPADvalues of the first inverse leaf showed no significant difference butSPADvalues of the second inverse leaf to the inverse fourth leaf were in the opposite way under waterlogging treatment of 12 days.SPADvalues showed a natural reduction with no significant difference at the 12 days of waterlogging treatment for the second inverse leaf but with the opposite results for the third and fourth inverse leaves in the control plots.SPADvalue of the second inverse leaf could be utilized to measure the injury degree of waterlogging when treatment period was more than 12 days and the third inverse leaf was the optimum when treatment period was less than 12 days.TheSPADvalue of the third and fourth inverse leaves were the first choice when waterlogging tolerance of different varieties or advanced lines were compared for its higher correlation with yield under waterlogging stress. 37 Effects of Kinds and Supplementation of Chinese Tea on Body Composition of Juvenile Grass Carp(Ctenopharyngodonidellus) and Channel Catfish (Ictaluruspunctatus)WULi-yun,YANGYan-ou,HUANGLiangCollegeofAnimalScienceandTechnology,AnhuiAgriculturalUniversity,Hefei,Anhui230036,ChinaAbstract: In order to study the effects of tea on body composition of juvenile grass carp(Ctenopharyngodonidellus) and channel catfish(Ictaluruspunctatus), two kinds of fermented teas (Qimen’s black tea and Pu-erh tea) and four kinds of unfermented teas (Pingshan Chaoqing,Huoshan Huangya,Huangshan Maofeng and Longjing Tea )were used. For the six teas, two supplementation levels (0.7%,1.4% in grass carp diets and 1.0%,2.0% in channel catfish diets) were added into diet respectively. The results showed as follows:For grass carp, all kinds of teas significantly increased the contents of body dry matter and protein, and decreased body lipid contents at different degrees;the affect on the body ash contents and dosage was studied, and the tea dosage could not affect the results significantly. For channel catfish,Huoshan Huangya,Huangshan Maofeng and Qimen’s black tea could increase the body dry matter significantly, and Pingshan Chaoqing,Longjing Tea and Qimen’s black tea could reduce the protein contents significantly, and the their dosage could affect the results significantly. The contents of fat and ash were not affected significantly. The results indicated that biochemical composition of grass carp body was affected more significantly by teas. 47 Study on Fast Method for Determination of Seed Husk Content in BarleyGONGQiang,WANGGuo-rongLIBo,XUYan-haoHubeiCollaborativeInnovationCenterforGrainIndustry(YangtzeUniversity),Jingzhou,Hubei434025,China;CollegeofAgronomy,YangtzeUniversity,Jingzhou,Hubei434025,ChinaAbstract: Aqueous ammonia method(SAA) and sulphuric acid method for soaking were two main methods for determination of barley seed husk content. However, the two methods were not suitable for measure large numbers of samples.Cellulose was the major chemical component of barley husk. The new cellulose dissolution system was used to develop a rapid, stable and high-throughput method for barley husk content determination. The results confirmed that alkaline sodium hypochlorite was more effective compared to sodium hydroxide treatment, sodium hypochlorite solution and sodium hydrate/urea aqueous solution for barley husk content determination. The concentrations of NaOH,NaClO,and the treatment time were adjusted to produce a stable and fast alkaline sodium hypochlorite method. The results showed that 4% NaOH combined with 20% NaClO and treated by 2 min boiling was the most reliable combination of alkaline sodium hypochlorite method. The accuracy and repeatability of alkaline sodium hypochlorite method were compared with the SAA and sulphuric acid method, which further confirms that the alkaline sodium hypochlorite method was the most suitable method for determining large number of barley husk contents.
