A fl ight attendant has to go through a series of strict training programmes before they are permitted by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) to become a quali fi ed attendant. This 3-month training prepares the fresh graduates for the role both physically and mentally.
Flight Attendants' Main Tasks:
No.1 Making sure the flight takes off and lands safely, and deal with emergencies;
No.2 Taking care of the passengers by giving out meals etc.

1st Challenge: Spirit to Serve
Apart from practicing newspaper distribution and so on, trainees will also learn to deal with passenger's complaints such as when the fl ight is delayed or canceled.
2nd Challenge: Keep Smiling
Flight attendants are the image of their airline company. Therefore, it is essential for the trainees to learn to smile, greet and apologise properly. What's more, they are even required to stand, squat, and walk in a certain elegant way. During the training process, a trainee needs to practice every taught movement over and over again, until acting gracefully becomes her natural habit.
3rd Challenge: Make-up Skills
There is not a single day in a fi ght attendant's career that she can go to work without make-up on. A full set of light yet delicate make-up can bring out the attendant's feminine charm while making her look con fi dent and professional.
4th Challenge: Emergency Treatment
Swimming is another essential skill that a fl ight attendant must learn. Therefore, a trainee is required to fully grasp standard breaststroke skills and pass a strict swimming exam. Apart from assisting passengers to escape when an emergency occurs, it is also a fl ight attendant's responsibility to demonstrate to the passengers the correct way to use the safety aids before the fl ight takes off. The safety demonstrations are usually taught and practiced inside a plane simulator, where the instructor checks their every movement for its accuracy.
5th Challenge: Language Skills
An air attendant is usually able to speak English and another language, so they are able to communicate with passengers from all over the world. A special English course has been designed to help the trainees to overcome the language barrier. It covers every possible circumstance that a fl ight attendant may encounter in the passenger cabins, including catering services, frequently asked questions and so on.
空姐在入职前需先接受航空公司提供的训练,并得到国际民航组织许可才可以成为乘务员。这历时三个月的训练,将帮助这些刚毕业的学生完成角色转换,在思维上快速适应空姐这份的职业。
1.服务精神
除了诸如分发报纸、毛毯等各种基本情景的练习,空姐还将从理论和实操课中学习到各种突发情况的处理流程,如飞机晚点、延误等情况的处理方法等。
学员们将在模拟航班上完成常规服务流程的演练。该实操课包括客舱安全演示和模拟客舱服务。在安全演示环节,要求每位学员根据广播指示,向旅客演示安全设备的使用方法。指导老师则在一旁检查学员的伸手、弯腰和微笑,确保学员们的每一个神态动作都准确到位。
2.气质仪态
空姐作为第一线接触乘客的人员,他们的一举一动都代表着航空公司,其形象至关重要。
乘务员礼仪培训主要分为理论和实践两大部分。除了着装、微笑、形体、问候等理论知识的了解,新乘还将进行形体纠正,然后展开站姿、蹲姿、走姿以及问好、致谢和道歉三种鞠躬礼仪的学习和练习,学员需要反复练习每一个动作从而养成优雅的仪态习惯。
3.化妆功力
化妆是空姐的必修课。一副素雅清丽的淡妆,能够恰到好处地呈现女性光彩与魅力,既不过分突出性别特性,又不过分引人注目,给人干净利落、大方活力的感觉。
4.急救技能
游泳是空姐需要掌握的最基本的技能之一,以便帮助旅客脱离危险。因此,新空姐必须在规定的课时内学会标准的蛙泳,并且通过严格的考试。
5.语言能力
乘务员通常需懂英语及另外一种或以上的语言,以便与各国乘客沟通。客舱英语,客舱服务实用英语根据空中乘务工作的基本流程,涵盖了乘务员客舱服务的所有流程。其中包括航前准备、客舱餐饮服务、客舱应急程序、乘客答疑等主要环节。
