内在迷人:波音 787
THE INNER BEAUTY OF BOEING 787
Text by Madeline Translation by Leo
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an ultra-efficient aircraft that boasts a fascinating interior as well as a shark-like streamlined exterior. With an area of 223 square metres, the space inside the jumbo jet is as large as a tennis court.
The 787 is configured in three versions with different sizes, ranges (mid/long) and passenger capacities (ranging from 210 to 330). The passenger cabin is fitted with dynamic LED lights which are 50% more energy-efficient than traditional fluorescent tubes. A host of 16 mood lighting options is available to simulate natural light around the clock. The impressive change of light colours and brightness in different mood settings seemingly brings the sky into the cabin.
COCKPIT 驾驶舱
The Dreamliner adopts the classic three-class and double-aisle layout for the passenger cabin, which is 15 inches larger than those of comparable aircraft, giving passengers more space and added comfort.
In addition, the internal cabin pressure of the 787 is increased to the equivalent of 6,000 feet (1,800 m) altitude instead of the 8,126 feet (2,438 m) on conventional aircraft, which is an altitude above which passengers will begin to have a headache and feel dizzy or tired. The design of the Boeing 787, however, gives 8% more oxygen to the cabin, thus reliving passengers of those symptoms.
Seating Features
FIRST CLASS 头等舱
FIRST CLASS 头等舱
The first class compartment is equipped with millionyuan silk lie-flat seats. The seats are complete with a personal laptop power source, noise-cancelling headphones, a satellite phone and a 17-inch LCD HDTV, allowing travellers to enjoy a world of their own that is spacious, private, and quiet.
BUSINESS CLASS 公务舱
The business class compartment is fitted with selfregulating soft lights, creating a relaxing ambiance for a good sleep.
ECONOMY CLASS 经济舱
The economy class compartment features double 55cm-wide aisles that are 6cm (2.36 in) wider than a typical twin-aisle economy class cabin. Like the Boeing A380, the 787's economy seats can be reclined toward different directions, and the cushions and backrests can also be adjusted so that passengers can better relax their heads and legs.
LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT 行李舱
The 787 has the largest of all overhead luggage compartments in any passenger jet, which are designed in full consideration of the trolley cases that travellers often carry. Besides that, the arc design also leaves passengers with more headroom.
Cabin Windows 舷窗
The 787's cabin windows are larger than any other civil aircraft and 30% larger than those of comparable airplanes, with dimensions of 11 by 18.5 in (28 by 47 cm). Regardless of the location of their seats, all passengers can see the horizon. Instead of traditional window shades, the aircraft uses electrochromism-based smart glass that allows the passengers to adjust levels of sunlight and visibility to their liking.
COCKPIT 驾驶舱
The most defining feature of the 787's cockpit is its head-up-displays (HUDs), a technology originally employed in fighter aircraft. With the HUDs, pilots no longer need to lower their heads to read flight information like flying attitude, speed and altitude. Instead, they can do so with the head positioned up and looking forward. This is particularly helpful when they land an aircraft in low visibility weather. Besides this, the 787's cockpit also features highlyintegrated instruments as all flight information is displayed on five displays, providing pilots with greater convenience to access information that they need.
