Abstract: The academic mainstream view of stream-of-consciousness novels in the new period of China lies in that it's the production of foreign literary trends and it transplants the concept and imitates the techniques of western stream-of-consciousness. This thesis argues that there exists a "westernization" tendency in the research of new period's stream-of-consciousness novels. Two "sources" have profound influence on new period's stream-of-consciousness novels. One is the western stream-of-consciousness literature, it plays the external role of inspiring and inducing. It determines the ways of expression and name of the new period's stream-of-consciousness novels. The other one is Chinese traditional literature resources, which affect the content and performance of the new period's stream-of-consciousness novels. It's the inner basis and soil of the stream-of-consciousness literature in the new time.
