That was a hot afternoon a year ago, I went to see my doctor. When I entered his room, I felt very nervous. I knew that my doctor might find something wrong with me, but I also knew that I would feel even more nervous if I didnt go to see the doctor. I didnt know whether I should see him or go home. I was standing beside a wooden chair with a comfortable cushion[垫子] and a magazine on it. I noticed that there were many other patients in the room. They were carefully sitting on the chairs around me. Their faces behind the magazines seemed to be frightened.
Of all these nervous patients, I noticed a little girl. She was about two years old. She was sitting on one of these seats with her short little legs sticking out into the air. Just a moment after I sat down, I heard this little girl begin to sing. She was making up her own song. The song was about Santa Claus. Everyone in the doctors room was listening to her, but the little girl was not aware that all the nervous patients were looking at her from behind their magazines to see who this singing angel was.
After the little girl finished singing, we all clapped for her. She suggested that we all stop clapping so that she could sing more. It looked as if she knew that her singing was able to make us feel less nervous. All the adults in the room exchanged smiles, and when we became silent, our little singing angel began to sing again.
We gave thanks to this little singing angel. Her songs helped calm down the nervous patients in the room and gave them peace of mind.
