剧情简介： 火焰一族的火柱和妻子灯花背井离乡，来到元素城开始新的生活。经过十几年的经营，火柱的杂货店开得有声有色，而气竭力衰的他也开始琢磨将这家店传给开朗热情却脾气火暴的独生女小焰。在独自筹备某次特卖活动时，小焰家的地下室管道发生意外，她也因此认识了水族青年渡阿波。渡阿波感性善良，作为市政府检查员，他不得不给这家店开出罚单。可是，这个店凝聚了小焰父亲全部的心血，为了阻止渡阿波的罚单，小焰使出浑身解数。这场水与火的危机是否能成功化解呢？

小焰是火族女孩，脾气火暴、爽快能干，暴怒时会炸成一个“火球”。她从小被教导火族不能与其他元素种族相融，极少与外面接触，她内心向往走出去看看，但父母倾尽一切的爱使她不得不压抑自己的梦想，做个继承家业的“好孩子”。

《疯狂元素城》故事灵感来源

《疯狂元素城》导演彼得·孙是出生在纽约州的美籍韩裔，父母都是韩国人。1995 年高中毕业之后，彼得进入加州艺术学院学习。在动画设计领域，加州艺术学院长久以来稳居全美第一的位置，几乎是一所引领美国动画产业发展方向的院校，一直以来都被认为是“皮克斯的后花园”。2000 年9 月加入皮克斯动画工作室后，彼得曾以配音演员、故事板艺术家、动画师、编剧、导演等多个身份，参与过《海底总动员》《超人总动员》《机器人总动员》等多部经典皮克斯作品的创作。

本片的故事在很大程度上，来源于彼得·孙的移民经历。整部影片的隐形主线，也是围绕着小焰这位移民后代的心态展开。小焰从内心认为父母为自己做出了巨大的牺牲，作为受益人，自己也必须承担家族的责任。
