My Favorite Book—Treasure Island

Treasure Islandis one of Stevenson’s best known works.This work has a unique style of shaping human image.In the book,the author creates lots of vivid characters like brave,good Jim,stubborn,irritable Bill,sophisticated Silver and mature,smart Dr.Livesey.

Born in 1850,Robert Louis Stevenson fell madly in love with fantasy and then became an English novelist and poet.He created man articles about pirates and adventures.And he was known for his wild imagination.Through the books,we learned that friendship,loyalty,integrity（正直）,and unity are the best things in the world.

The story was about a boy called Jim Horkins.He accidentally met an old captain called Bill who left a treasure map for Jim.Then Jim gave the map to a doctor and they went sailing for the treasure together.On the way,they met the cook of the ship,Silver who was actually wicked（邪恶的）from the bottom of his heart.They battled against Silver and won.At last Jim,the Captain,Dr.Livesey and other trusty helpers packed up the treasure (which included medicine,gold,money,tea sets and even gun powder) and sailed back to England.I still remember the old song of the sailors.

“Fifteen men on the dead men’s chest—You-ho-ho,and a bottle of rum（朗姆酒）!”

“Drink and the detail had done for the rest—You-ho-ho,and a bottle of rum!”

In the book,my favorite character is Jim who was brave enough to go sailing with the Captain and the sailors.On the way,he battled against Silver — “the seafarinɡ（航海的）man with one leg” along with Dr.Livesey and other humble men.As A.K.Cheston once said,“Treasure Islandis the realization of an ideal,which is promised in its provocative（煽动性的）and beckoning（令人心动的）map;a vision not only of white skeletons but also green palm tree and sapphire（天蓝色的）seas.”
