The culture that exists at Ardmore Elementary clearly places high value on strong collaboration within each grade level and a strong sense of community throughout the school. The design carefully responds to these values by creating L-shaped clusters of classrooms, organized by grade level, that open onto a shared work area. This layout allows groups of classrooms to work collaboratively in a 21st Century learning environment.
These classroom clusters are strategically arranged around the two-story library, located at the center of the school. With glass walls and large openings to the hallway, the library serves as a transparent beacon that encourages connectivity and supports a strong sense of community for students and teachers.
Additional informal learning areas can be found throughout the building,as well as multiple outdoor learning courtyards that help connect the school to its site. These spaces allow learning to happen anywhere and everywhere.
