We are very pleased to announce a special issue,to be published in the Summer of 2022,on “RNA Modifications and Epitranscriptomics” in the journalGenomics,Proteomics &Bioinformatics(GPB).
More than 100 distinct chemical modifications to RNA have been characterized so far.They are prevalent in non-coding RNA,including rRNA,tRNA,and small nuclear RNA (snRNA),and are important for their functions.In addition,several modifications,for instanceN6-methyladenosine(m6A),5-methylcytidine (m5C),inosine (I),pseudouridine (Ψ),andN1-methyladenosine (m1A),are also found internally in mRNA of eukaryotes and can influence the metabolism and function of mRNA.Thus,the multitude of RNA modifications together has been first designated as“epitranscriptome”,in analogy to epigenetic regulation mediated by modifications to DNA and histone.To unravel the mysteries of the epitranscriptome,we dedicate this special issue to the current advances of RNA modifications and beyond.
This special issue covers,but is not limited to,the following topics:
➢ Novel types of RNA modifications;
➢ Technologies and profiling of RNA modifications;
➢ Epitranscriptomic functions;
➢ RNA modifications in diseases,such as cancers,cardiovascular,and neurologic diseases;
➢ The viral epitranscriptomics;
➢ Novel computational methods,tools,or databases of RNA modifications;
➢ Experimental and computational methods for discovering new writers,readers,and erasers of RNA modifications.
Original studies,reviews,methods,and reports on tools,etc.are all welcome.Deadline for submissions to this special issue is May 31,2022.Manuscripts should be prepared according to the Guide for Authors (https://www.journals.elsevier.com/genomics-proteomics-and-bioinformatics)and the manuscript template (http://gpb.big.ac.cn).Manuscripts should be submitted online at https://www.editorialmanager.com/GPB.Please select “SI:RNA Modification” when submitting your manuscript to this special issue and indicate the actual article type in the cover letter.
The guest editors for this special issue areDr.Chengqi Yi(Peking University) andDr.Jianhua Yang(Sun Yat-sen University).
