Essay mills are to be banned in England.

The British government announced that essay mills are to be banned in England. That means it will be an offence for any institution in England that provides educational services for pupils over 16 to offer, arrange or advertise ghostwriting services for the purpose of profiting. It aims to reduce cheating in universities, and help boost job opportunities across the country.

Alex Burghart, the education minister of England, said: "Essay mills are unethical and undermine the hard work most students have put in." He also mentioned that the new proposals would help safeguard the academic integrity of post-16 students and higher education in England, and protect students from "falling victim to deceptive marketing techniques of contract cheating services".
