冬天，一个童话般的季节，已来到了我们身边。Sally和Jolly的毛衣外，多了一件御寒的外套。餐桌上，多了一些热腾腾的饺子。冬天里的第一场雪，真美啊！

“啊，好冷呀！”妈妈忙提醒Sally和Jolly把外套穿上。“put on”的意思是“穿”，遇到人称代词“it”，要把“it”放中间，组成“put it on”;如果人称代词是them， 那就是“put them on”。类似的短语还有“pick up”，“pick it up”意思是“把它捡起来”，“pick them up”意思是“把它们捡起来”。外套“coat”是名词，它既可以跟在“put on”的后面，组成“put on the coat”， 也可以放在“puton”的中间，组成“put the coat on”。

妈妈在厨房里包饺子、煮饺子，Sally 和Jolly在一旁帮忙。爸爸一进门，就闻到了饺子的香味，笑呵呵地问：“Are there anydumplings in the pot？”饺子的复数是“dumplings”，所以，爸爸用的是“Are there ... ？”句型，这是“There be”句型的一般疑问句形式。Sally回答：“Yes， there are.”这是肯定回答;如果回答是否定的，她应该说：“No， there arent.”

Jolly 迫不及待地追问：“How many dumpings are there in thepot？”“How many”是问物品的数量，后面加可数名词复数。妈妈笑着说：“There are about forty.”

“There be”句型的一般疑问句形式除了“Are there ...？”句型，还有“Is there ... ？”句型。“Is there ...？”句型所问的物品是单数或是不可数名词，如：Is there an orange？意思是“有一个橘子吗？”肯定回答是：“Yes， there is.”否定回答是：“No， there isnt.”

Sally 看着雪人，情不自禁地感叹道：“What a big snowman！”这是“What”引导的感叹句，后面接名词，雪人“snowman”就是名词，一个大雪人“a big snowman”是名词短语。Jolly赞叹雪人好看，说：“Hownice！”这是“How”引导的感叹句。“How+形容词”，这里的形容词是nice，完整地表达这个句子，应该是：How nice the snowman is！
