在一次最平常不过的购物经历中,本文中的主人公拯救了一个人的宝贵生命。
It was a cold and windy day in December. I decided to go to the supermarket at lunchtime. I had no idea that a simple trip to the grocery store would be a blessing for a group of people.
As I entered the store and made my way to the red potatoes, I suddenly heard a loud bang (巨响) and, seconds later, people were shouting for help and running. I stopped and ran to see what was going on, only to discover a grocery store worker was experiencing a seizure(疾病突然发作) and his team members did not know what was happening.
I quickly jumped in and gave directions to two of the grocery store workers on what to do. I said, “Turn him on his side.” For a moment they looked at me as if I were crazy. They even repeated back to me in a questioning manner, “Turn him on his side?” I said, “Yes, turn him on his side. Clear that bar from near his head, stay with him and keep him comfortable.”
Other team members were yelling to grab the first aid kit(急救箱). When they brought the kit, someone took a pencil out of the box and wanted to place it in the man?蒺s mouth. I immediately said, “No, do not place anything in his mouth. Keep him on side, and stay with him.” I asked people who were crowding around to move back and give them space.
The man eventually moved through his seizure and gained full consciousness. He managed to get up with the help of his co?鄄workers and they sat him in a chair. By this time, First Responders were in the store and made their way to him and provided the care that was needed.
I slipped away to go back to shopping. As I moved through the store, a customer who had witnessed(目擊) the incident came up to me and thanked me for my help. I chatted with her about first aid. She said, “I need to learn that first aid.” I smiled and said, “Yes, it is so important and can save a life.”
