In the Three Kingdoms Period（三国时期）， there was a kingdom called Shu. Liu Bei was the king. One day， his adviser（谋臣）， Xu Shu， came to see him.

Xu Shu： My King， I’m leaving.

Liu Bei： Why？ What’s up？

Xu Shu： My mother is ill， so I have to look after her.

Liu Bei： Oh， I understood. Please give my best wishes to your mother.

Xu Shu： I will. Thank you， My King.

Liu Bei： Well， if you leave， nobody can give me advice（建议）.

Xu Shu： There is a talent in Long Zhong. His name is Zhuge Liang. If you get his help， you will win the world.

Liu Bei： Great！ I will go and visit him.

The next day， Liu Bei brought many gifts to visit Zhuge Liang with Guan Yu and Zhang Fei.

Zhang Fei： Brother， where are we going？

Liu Bei： We are going to visit Zhuge Liang.

Zhang Fei： Zhuge Liang？ Who is he？

Guan Yu： He is a wise man. He can help us.

Zhang Fei： Why not ask him to come here？

Servant： Who are you？

Liu Bei smiled but didn’t reply（回答）. Finally， they arrived（到達） at Zhuge Liang’s house. Liu Bei knocked at the door. A servant opened the door.

Liu Bei： I’m Liu Bei. They are my brothers. We are here to visit Mr Zhuge.

Servant： Mr Zhuge is out this morning.

Liu Bei： What a pity！ When will he come back？

Servant： Sorry， I don’t know.

Liu Bei： All right. We will pay a visit next time.

Several days later， Liu Bei heard that Zhuge Liang was back. He wanted to visit Zhuge Liang the second time.

Zhang Fei： It’s so cold. Why do you visit him again？

Liu Bei： I want to show my sincerity（诚意）.

Zhang Fei： Let me go and tie him here！

Liu Bei： No！ You can’t！ If you do that， I’ll be angry.

Zhang Fei was very unhappy， but he still went with Liu Bei. It was snowing heavily. They rode horses there.

Liu Bei： Hello， is Mr Zhuge at home now？

Servant： Sorry. Mr Zhuge is out to visit his friend.

Liu Bei： Well. Please give this letter to Mr Zhuge.

Servant： I will.

Liu Bei： Thank you.

The next spring， Liu Bei planned to visit Zhuge Liang the third time. Luckily， Zhuge Liang was at home this time.

Servant： Mr Zhuge is sleeping. I will wake him up.

Liu Bei： No， please don’t do that.

Guan Yu： Let’s have a rest outside until Mr Zhuge wake up.

Liu Bei： Guan Yu， Zhang Fei， you can go to rest now. I will wait inside.

Zhang Fei：But ...

Liu Bei： Don’t worry.

Guan Yu & Zhang Fei： All right.

Liu Bei stepped slowly into the room and waited.

Servant： You don’t have to stay here. I will tell you when Mr Zhuge wakes up.

Liu Bei： It doesn’t matter. Waiting here can show my respect（尊重） to Mr Zhuge.

After a long time， Zhuge Liang woke up.

Liu Bei： Good afternoon， Mr Zhuge. I am Liu Bei.

Zhuge Liang： Good afternoon. My servant told me about you. This is the third time for you to visit me. What can I do for you？

Liu Bei： I want to bring peace to the world. Could you help me？

Zhuge Liang：  Let me tell you the world’s situation（形势） ...

Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang talked for a long time.

Liu Bei： I admire（欣賞） you so much， Mr Zhuge. May I invite you to Shu？

Zhuge Liang：  Oh ...Well ... My pleasure.

Liu Bei： Great！ Let’s work together to make Shu stronger.
