Dr Bo Xu is a Professor and doctoral supervisor of College of Physical Education and Health in East China Normal University. He is also a principal investigator in the Key Laboratory of Adolescent Health Assessment and Exercise Intervention of Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. His research interests are Alzheimer’s disease (AD) prevention and exercise intervention. He had published over 30 publications. His most widely recognized work is on the role of mitochondria in exercise-induced prevention and improvement of AD. He believes that the benefit of exercise on mitochondria is of broad interest to the neuroscientific community and that the results of this interest will inspire further studies that investigate the role of mitochondria in AD prevention and treatment.

Dr Dennis van Poppel is a researcher and teacher at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda,the Netherlands. Also, he is the co-founder of PECE Zorg, Shoulder Rehabilitation Center and Knee Rehabilitation Center in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. In 2013–2015, he was chosen as the best sports physical therapist in the Netherlands. In daily practice, he works as a movement scientist,sports physical therapist, and manual therapist; and teaches colleagues all over the world from Progress Educations. The central focus of his work is complaints in upper extremity and running related injuries. He also acts as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Claudio Di Lorito is a research fellow in the Division of Rehabilitation, Ageing, and Wellbeing of the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He holds a PhD in Psychiatry obtained at the University of Nottingham and an MSc in Mental Health Studies from King’s College, London.His research interests focus on behavior change and physical exercise in dementia. This area of research aims to promote the uptake and long-term engagement in physical activity and exercise of people living with dementia, to slow down motor function deterioration, and to reduce the risk of falling and hospitalization. He is the author of more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. His latest publication is as the author of the book chapter “Older people as victims and perpetrators of crime”,included in the 3rd edition of theOxford Textbook of Old Age Psychiatry, 2020.

Silvia Meyer is a PhD student at the Department of Psychology at the University of Basel,Switzerland. Her research interest focuses on the psychological factors that contribute to the relationship between physical activity and life satisfaction, with a particular focus on adolescents.During this time, physical activity and life satisfaction levels seem to drop which makes the further understanding of the psychological mechanisms of physical activity and how it can contribute to adolescents’ life satisfaction very important. Silvia Meyer participates in the SEED doctoral program (School Psychology, Developmental Diagnostics, and Educational Counseling), where besides her academic work, she also works as a psychologist for children and adolescents.

Tatsuya T. Shigeta is a doctoral researcher based in the Center for Cognitive and Brain Health,located in Northeastern University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex in Boston,MA. His research interests focus on how lifestyle factors, such as physical activity, affect cognitive functioning and health outcomes across the lifespan. In particular, he is interested in the effects of acute and chronic exercise interventions on neurocognitive functioning and behavioral performance on intelligent, goal-directed tasks. His current research incorporates psychophysiological methods to examine potential biomarkers underlying effects of acute exercise, physical fitness levels, and other health factors on cognitive and brain function.
