English vocabulary learning APP emerges as the times require. There are many problems and loopholes. The users learning time is fragmentary and the frequency of use is low, which has made little effect on the help of software users. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and study the situation of college students using mobile APP to learn English vocabulary.
1. Research method
This paper mainly uses the questionnaire survey method to carry on the research. This questionnaire mainly presents in detail the current situation, advantages, problems and causes of the use of mobile APP(For example, Baicizhan, Shanbei, Jiguang, Hujiang Happy Word Field, etc.) in English vocabulary learning in college students English learning by means of random questionnaires and interviews among undergraduates of different majors in grades 1 to 4. A total of 500 questionnaires were sent out and 468 valid questionnaires were received. The effective rate was 94%, and the remaining 6% of the students did not use English vocabulary softwares. 179 were from boys and 289 were from girls. Among them, there were 150 freshmen, 108 sophomores, 149 juniors and 161 senior students, including 89 English majors and 379 non-English majors.
2. Research findings
According to the survey, the English vocabulary softwares used by college students at present mainly include Baicizhan(68%), Youdao(53%), Shanbei(33%), Jiguang(7%), Hujiang Happy Word Field(20%),Momo Memory Words(6%),and other softwares.Among them, the largest number of people have used Baicizhan.
2.1 Learning purpose
According to the results of the survey, more than half of the college students use vocabulary software to study for the English proficiency test, and 9% of the students prepare for entrance examinations such as postgraduates. Because some schools regard CET-4 and CET-6 as one of the criteria for graduation qualification, and because university learning mainly depends on students self-study, the school will not do relevant training for the level examination. However, 29.06% of the students are studying for the usual College English course, while only 11.54% of the students chose it out of interest.
