A Tale of A Tail

Long ago,there lived abeavernamed Ray.Ray was quiteproudof his nice thick tail.He spent a lot of time brushing andfluffingit.“I have asplendidtail,”Raybragged.“It’s the best tail that an animal can have.”

从前，有只海狸，名叫雷。它为它那毛茸茸的尾巴感到非常自豪，花了不少时间来梳理、蓬松尾巴。“我有一条漂亮极了的尾巴，”雷炫耀道，“这是动物能够拥有的最好的尾巴”。

One fine day in April,Ray went out.“It’s a nice day tochopwood,”he said.So Ray got his ax.He chopped,chopped,chopped a big tree eight times.The big treeswayedthis way and that.Then it fell on top of Ray’s tail! Ray tugged and tugged at his tail.Hegaspedwhen he pulled it out.

四月的某个晴天，雷外出了。“天气不错，适合砍树。”雷说道。雷拿起斧子，他砍呀，砍呀，连续砍了八下。大树来回晃了几下，随后砸在了雷的尾巴上。雷气喘吁吁地扯呀扯，终于从树底下扯出了尾巴。

“My tail is flat!”Ray wailed.

雷哭着说道：“我的尾巴变成扁的了。”

The sun looked down at him.She could tell that Ray felt bad about his tail.“A flat tail will help you swim fast,”the sun explained.

“A flat tail can send asignal,too.Justslapit on the water.”

太阳看出了雷对自己的尾巴很不满意，看着雷解释道：“扁扁的尾巴会让你游得更快，拍打水面还可以传送信号。”

That made Ray happy.

听到这，雷豁然开朗。

“I have aspecialtail!”yelled Ray.Then Ray slapped his tail on the water.SLAP,SLAP,SLAP!

雷兴奋地叫道：“我有一条特别的尾巴了！”雷在水里拍了好几下尾巴，拍呀拍，拍呀拍，拍呀拍。

His pals came running.“Do you want our help?”they asked.

朋友门都跑来问它：“你需要我们帮忙吗？”

“I want togiveyoua ride,”said Ray.“Hop on my tail.I willcarryyou across the lake.”

“让我载你们一程吧！”雷回答说，“跳到我的尾巴上来，我载你们过去。”

And happy Ray swam off as fast as a fish.

雷相当开心，像鱼儿一样快速地游向对岸。
