A What problems do you have at home? Does your dinner sometimes taste bad?Does your dog wake you up at night? Do you lose your keys?

Does your car stop working? If your answer is 'yes' to these questions and you live inBrazil, perhaps there is a little boy called Saci in your house!

B Saci is about 10 to 13 years old. He has very dark skin. He only has one leg, and he wears a little red cap. He smokes a pipe and he can do magic using his little red cap.He can go anywhere he wants at any time. He is very fast, and he is good at riding horses. He can even change into a bird!

C Saci likes to play tricks on people. He isn't really bad, but he is very naughty! Hehides children's toys. He breaks your eggs. He puts too much salt in your food. He puts flies in your soup! And he pulls animals' tails to make them upset!

D If you think Saci is giving you bad luck, there are three things you can do. Walk across a bridge. When he follows you, he will lose his magic.

Throw a piece of string on the grass. If he sees string, he always wants to stop and play with it. Finally, take his hat. But be careful-it has a very bad smell!

The story has four parts, A to D.What is the best heading for each part? (A heading is a group of words that tell you what each part is about.)1. Problems at home?

2. Stopping Saci.

3. What does Saci do?

4. Who is Saci?

Part A _____

Part B _____

3. Saci can fly if he wants.

Look at these sentences from the story. There are two clauses in each sentence. (A clause has a subject and a verb.) One clause starts with if, and the other clause starts after the comma.

If your answer is 'yes' to these questions and you live in Brazil, perhaps there is a little boy called Saci in your house!
