Development Base of Ten Resources of Lead and Zin Mine in Xinjiang Has Come to a Considerable Scale

Development base of ten resources of nonferrous metal, in particular the development base of ten-million-ton grade burning clouds lead-zinc mine, has come to a considerable scale. Burning clouds lead-zinc mine is located in burning clouds area in Hetian County of Hetian region in Xinjiang. It is the biggest lead mine and zinc mine in Asia. With the latest news, its deposit contains lead and zinc resource of 20 million to 40 million tons, being the biggest lead-zinc deposit in China ever. According to previous data, its lead grade is 4.58%, zinc grade 23.92%, the average lead + zinc grade 28.51%, being a rarely seen high-grade deposit in the world.

The mine is characterized by simple and integral ore body, gently occurrence and stable extension, shallow depth, large-scale deposit, high grade and so on. It has quality economic development and is suitable for open-pit mining. Additionally, Xinjiang boasts various types of minerals and huge reserves. 138 types of minerals were found, of which 9 types rank the first nationwide in terms of reserves and 32 types rank the first in northwest area.

Reserves of petroleum and natural gas in Xinjiang rank top three nationwide; its coal reserves rank the second nationwide; lead-zinc reserves rank the third nationwide; gold reserves rank the third nationwide; iron ore reserves rank the tenth nationwide. Coal is a very advantageous type of resource in Xinjiang, with an estimated total reserves of 2.2 trillion tons, accounting for 40% nationwide, being the top in China. Katabasu gold mine in Xinyuan County, Xinjiang is a super large gold mine that was discovered in 2009 in the first place. Its mid-term gold resource is 53 tons and future gold resource is expected to exceed 100 tons, rising to be one of super large gold mines in China.

Xinjiang is abundant in iron ore resource that is characterized by wide distribution, full varieties, plenty of rich ores and huge resource potential. Cha Mingfu’s iron ore reserves is 132 million tons, ranking the second nationwide. In Oct., 2016, stable manganese-enriched ores rock series of carboniferous system was found in Ximuji, Aketao, Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture. Its boasts 30 million tons of quality manganese ore at the average grade of 35%. In Oct., 2016, large crystalloid graphite ore zone with reserves of over 100 million tons was found in Junggar Basin in northern Xinjiang.

Furthermore, Yili Basin is one of the most important development bases of uranium mine in our country. In Yili, Team No. 216 of China National Nuclear Corporation made the first big breakthrough in exploitation of in-situ leachable uranium deposit, reporting China’s first 10-thousand-ton grade in-situ leachable uranium deposit. Yili Basin then has become the first super large in-situ leachable uranium mine field.
