Shanghai Supports New Material Industry High-nickel Positive Material is Showing Great Potential

Shanghai will continue to enhance supporting capacity to key material of major industrial cluster such as IC, auto, aviation and high-end equipment. Technical roadmap of ternary power battery in NEV has been determined that the increase in the future 3 years will be over 60%. With high-nickel power battery being recognized in global community, Chinese high-nickel power battery will definitely see an explosive growth, where high-nickel positive material is the big winner. Positive material is the key part of core of battery so it is going to be the big winner for a long time. With its technology being improved constantly, positive material is surely endowed with a great potential.

Shanghai is supporting new material field in four aspects: first, Shanghai subdivides the field into three major directions of advanced material, key material and basic material, for specific support; second, Shanghai will support material field, i.e. the constructions of four major platforms of manufacturing innovation center, R&D transform platform, new material testing and evaluation platform and new material production and application demonstration platform, to strengthen new material achievement transform ability; third, Shanghai will construct industry chain exchange platform and CIIF new material exhibition, to strengthen industrial connection; fourth, Shanghai will comprehensively take advantage of firstly-launched policies related to new material, industry-led infrastructure enhancement, key project service, talent base construction and new material industrial fund, to optimize industrial growth environment.

As a part that is of the most value and most difficult technology in NEV, power battery makes constant improvement with the driving force of technical reform and advanced design and manufacturing process of upstream new material. Globally, nickel supply is less than demand. Stainless steel expansion and nickel battery demand are doing great jobs while supply side growth is rather challenging. Supply and demand pattern has made an unchanged keynote of a climbing-up price trend. Driven by growing demand, high-nickel ternary material is playing an increasingly important role in new material field.
