“Creativity is development, creativity is future. We would be exceeded if we dont create;we would be out of date if we dont create.” our President Xi said. With the progress of the times, our educational system is gradually becoming perfect. Schools, as the fundamental part of educational system, are playing an increasingly important role.
Schools usually undertake the responsibility of teaching students how to obtain knowledge, which will enable the students to be more mature and are more prepared for future work. We have to admit that our schools have done great in terms of transmitting knowledge and cultivating talents. However, its emphasis on exams and scores does do some harm to students creativity. So in my opinion, schools do kill creativity especially in the following two aspects.
The school learning environment is the main killer of creativity. Although schools provide students with a good learning environment, meanwhile, it hinders the development of students creativity. In the process of students learning, the environment will unconsciously affect students mind. For instance, the exam-oriented system, which aims to check whether students have mastered the knowledge learned in class, kils their creativity. Students have to pay all their attention to exams and tests, which may determine their future university. Consequently, the stiff atmosphere shrouds every student and their families and creativity gradually dies out.
Boarding system is another killer. In China many students have to live in school dorms. Whatever they do, they have to follow the rules:waking up at 6 in the morning and returning to dorm before ten, with no hanging out except weekends. That means, from Monday to Friday or even Saturday they cant contact the outside world. They do not know what is happening every day and they have almost no access to the advanced technology, so their eyesight is limited in a small yard called school. In that case, there wont be any good chance to stimulate students creativity.
To sum up, schools do kill students creativity. After all, the development of creativity requires high quality students and active atmosphere. Therefore, we need an open atmosphere to liberate the students minds. We hope they can spark brilliant ideas.endprint
