Abstract:At present, the drawbacks of traditional English teaching in China led the majority of middle school students to learn vocabulary in a difficult way. The quantity of vocabulary becomes the bottleneck of English learning. Vocabulary takes an important position in language learning and application. It is the foundation of English basic skills. Researchers have studied from different perspectives on English vocabulary learning. Now it has played a great effect on teaching, and more and more teachers apply game teaching methods to conduct classroom teaching. At the same time, problems came out. I Introduction
The importance position of vocabulary in language learning and language usage are undoubted, especially for the second language learning. Phonetic, grammar and vocabulary are the three factors of language formation. And among them, vocabulary is the most important one. Vocabulary is the carrier of phonetics. If language is a building, the vocabulary is the building materials. If there is no vocabulary, there will no language. River thought that grasping enough vocabulary is the key to use foreign language successfully. The famous scholar Wilkins had said, "In the process of learning a foreign language, we can express a little without grammar, but we can express nothing without vocabulary. Mcarthy, a lexical expert thought that no matter how better a student has learnt the grammar and phonetics in the second language, if there is no vocabulary to the meaning, the language communication would be difficult to conduct. We can fully grasp grammar in a short time, but we can't learn all words even in our whole life.
Many scholars have studied the class games, in this article, literature reviews divided into the following two parts
In a word, all the researches on vocabulary teaching are very widely, and they have been strong supporters on vocabulary teaching. But for the practical problems and teaching strategies in middle school, there still lack of an effective way. This is the focus-point to research in this article.
II Status quo and problems of class games apply in English vocabulary teaching.
In the middle school, there is a high density of English words and the rate of reappear is average low, which need to be made up in the teaching method. However, not all secondary English teachers attached attention to it, a considerable number of words just be met once or twice during a whole term. If students dont have an enough activities to listen, to speak, to read or to write, though much words was memorized at first ,gradually they would be forgotten, let alone the words they met during after-school reading.
Whether we can flexibly use learned words in those skills to daily communication is still worth nothing. In English, I think there are four major errors in vocabulary teaching:
In most class, the teacher led all students do all kinks of games, but Students just follow their teacher, not knowing why they have to do this. They just play games one by one, but not having class like other classes. Or the game has no direct relations to the teaching contents. The game design could not closely combine with teaching materials, or it is very limited in the game to practice language.
III The effect of class games applying on vocabulary teaching
Whatever they do, people should respect the practical experience and objective laws. Only in this way, did a good effect will be gained the following are effects if the class games applied properly.
First of all, the game help stimulate students' language learning motivation .English proverb goes: "Education must be fun", this tells us that "interest is the best teacher." Properly using class games can regulate classroom atmosphere and guide students to actively participate in classroom activities, which will help develop students interest and make class become lively and interesting. Once someone really had a strong interest in something or a phenomenon, he will surge a kind of a strong desire to discovery. Second, classroom games help improve students' language learning ability. English Class games make students more active in thinking, and students' explore enthusiasm increased. Innovative education is the core of quality education. In the classroom teaching, teachers should strive to create activity scenarios for students to inspire students' explore desire and enrich the students imaginations, so that to train students characteristics of creativity. Teaching in the game can develop some intellectual factors, such as observation capability, memory, imagination, and thinking. By certain teaching activities, students intellect can be directly transferred into English learning ability. Finally, classroom games help improve students language communication ability. In English class, a variety of game activities can fully mobilize the students enthusiasm so that students had a great improvement in listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially in speaking. Carrying out game in the classroom teaching, the vast majority of students would get out of a feeling of stranger in a relaxed environment, to be able to boldly speak English and gradually increase language organization ability.
IV Conclusion
In summary, the class game forms used in middle school English teaching are various. It is an ideal subject teaching method. But we should be clear that there is no generally applicable teaching method in the world, let alone universal teaching approach, since the teaching situation is various. All teaching methods has its advantages and its limitations. Teachers should select the appropriate teaching methods based on different teaching scenarios. Teaching is a science, but also an art. This requires that teachers in teaching practice is not to copy the approach, but should be in a creative way to use it, at the same time ,teacher should also pay attention to a variety of teaching methods with alternate use to achieve the best teaching methods Optimization. Only in this way will teaching methods burst out with the most brilliant luster in the process of promoting quality education.
