Traveling wave fault location method for transmission lines by WANG Lu, WEN Wu-song P.117
The transient current travelling waves, generated from fault on the high voltage transmission line, usually contain some distance information, which can be used for accurate fault location. There are two fault location methods based on current travelling waves: double-end current travelling wave method, and single-end current travelling wave method. This paper analyzes the formation and transmission process of the travelling wave, and introduces the principles and implementation schemes of the two methods. Finally it discusses many key issues in the process of implementation, and gives the solutions.
