In order to better carry out related content of the agreement about becoming friendly cities that was officially signed on June 1stof 2007 between Chongqing and Inchon and obtain substantial progress, Huang Qifan has cosigned the memorandum of understanding between Chongqing of Republic of China and Inchon of Korean to strengthen friendly cooperation further with Yoo JeongBok (hereinafter referred to as MOU).
Zhu Xiyan, the director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Offi ce of Chongqing presided over the signing ceremony.
Besides the signature of MOU, Huang Qifan has met with Yoo JeongBok and his delegation. During the meeting on May 11th, Huang Qifan showed that Chongqing and Korea have something in common and some complementarities at the aspects of economy through the frequent communication between the two parties.
During this meeting, Huang Qifan suggested especially that he hopes Inchon can make use of the large channel of Eurasia international railway transportation of “Yuxinou” which starts with Chongqing (hereinafter referred to as “Yuxinou”) to make the cargoes that are transported to Korea from Europe transited through “Yuxinou”, thus to form the combined transportation of railway and airplane. Huang Qifan said that Chongqing is the pivotal port on the upper reach of Yangtze River, and both Chongqing and Inchon have shouldered the heavy responsibility of logistics transportation junction. The cargoes transported to Korea from Europe can be transported to Chongqing after 12 days through “Yuxinou”, and then transported to Inchon after 4-hour airplane, thus to form the combined transportation of railway and airplane of “12-day railway+4-hour airplane”, which can save more than 50% transportation cost. In terms of this suggestion, Yoo JeongBok said it has huge possibility.
