一节英语阅读课上的乐趣

现代社会在不断进步,人们对语言的学习悄然发生变化。单纯学习某一语言已经无法满足社会发展的需求,在国际经济、文化、学术、军事和政治交流中,英语被越来越广泛地使用,英语学习热潮愈演愈烈。作为我国的中学生,仅在课堂上学习英语有很大的局限性和狭隘性,特别是英语的阅读课,经常让学生觉得毫无生气,因此失去不少信心。为此,本文借着课文“Can you give me some advice on how to learn English well?”探问如何在多种激励机制下引导学生爱上英语阅读课。

一、教学背景分析

通过Wang Junfeng和两个朋友谈论在美国在交流方面遇到的问题,引出三人学习英语的困难和困惑,同时引入有关疑问词加不定式的用法,继而由Kangkang向学生介绍自己的学习方法并针对三人提出的问题一一进行解答。在这课学习中,呈现Miss Wang以开班会的形式要求学生小组讨论英语学习方法,并做好最后的总结和发言。

在前两课时的学习中,学生已基本掌握疑问词加不定式充当主语、宾语的基本用法,对于在学习英语中遇到的常见问题也有大致的了解,并学习了英语的基本构词法,体验以构词法背诵单词的乐趣。

本课学习的重点在于进一步学习与英语学习有关的词汇和表达法,如review,preview,translate,as long as,stick to等,并运用这些表达法针对如何学好英语提出具体有效的措施,同时培养学生合作学习、互相帮助和乐于分享的精神。通过创设真实的语境——针对BBC Learning English网站上Ask About English栏目中Li Ming提出的问题进行回复,以书面形式巩固本课所学表达,训练学生的笔头输出能力。

二、课堂环节回顾

导入:回顾旧知识,引入新体制。

T:Lets learn the studying aims together. And I will divide you into two groups: Tiger group and Lion group, to have a competition in this class. In Section A&B, we have known some useful ways to learn English from Kangkang, can you just tell us what they are?

S1:Copy new words on pieces of paper, stick them on the walls and read them aloud.

S2:Do more reading. Try to guess the meanings of the new words, and get the main idea of the article.

S3:Dont be shy. Think about your answer, take a deep breath and smile, then answer the question.

T:Very good!You all did a good job. I think the Tiger group did a little better than the Lion group, so five points for the Tiger group and two points for the Lion group. Then do you have other useful ways besides these above?OK, Lets move to Section C to learn more.

提问:学生如何保持课堂激情?

学生在课堂上的专注力很大程度影响学习成绩,且与和老师的互动、与课堂任务的达成效果息息相关。孩子的天性是容易分神,碰上恶劣天气或身体不适情况更不容易集中精力,除了声情并茂的讲演,要如何抓住学生的心呢?

释疑:学生是极有集体荣誉感的,如果把学生分成几个部分,通过竞争的方式,每回答对一题、做对一题、和同学合作一次、上台表演一回,都能够有相应的加分,通过积分,最终确定本堂课的优胜队伍,并给予适当的奖励(物质或精神),学生将会尽最大努力集中注意力,为本组争得荣誉,那么,课堂教学效率自然就能翻上好几倍。

自学:自学用微课,学完马上测

T:Before our learning, I will show you a video. Everyone should pay attention to studying the video, after watching it, we will have some tests. So please watch it carefully. (Play the video)

T:Thats all for the self-studying, Now I have some small tests for you, you can finish them in your group(with partners or group members), ten minutes later, you should tell us your results of learning.

T:Time is up. Now first question, can you explain these new words in English?

S4:preview means study the days lesson before class. Review means to look again at sth. You have read or studied.

Retell means to tell a story again or repeat an article in a different way.

translate means to express the meaning in a different language.

stick means keep on doing sth.,cant change easily.

T:Brilliant.You have master these words very well,lets clap for him,and five points for you.Now task 2,translate these Chinese phrases into English.

S5:记笔记 take notes 很荣幸做某事 Its an honor to do sth.

建议某人做某事 advise sb.to do sth. 把……译成…… translate...into

尽可能经常 as often as possible 只要 as long as 坚持做某事 stick to doing sth.

T:Well done, you also get five points. Now you know their meanings, I want you to make some sentences with them.(one phrase for one point, two phrases for four points, three phrases for six points)

S6:As long as you are beautiful, we will stick to making friends as long as possible.

S7:Every morning, my mother advises me to brush my teeth with different toothpastes.

S8:Its my great honor to retell the stories to you as often as possible.

T:You all did a wonderful job.So through the video,I believe you can learn by yourselves very well,and I hope you can stick to learning in different ways.Here is my learning tip:

(Try to make sentences with the new words.Its also a good way to help you recite English words!用新单词造句是帮助记忆单词的一种好办法。)

提问:传统课堂和以学生自学为中心的课堂哪种更能调动学生的积极主动性?

传统的课堂是老师用粉笔和黑板擦从头讲到尾,学生机械听讲,机械记笔记,走神者、讲话者、发呆者时常有之。新的教学方法正在被慢慢地运用于教学中,在实际实践下,到底哪一种方法更适用于英语课堂呢?我们在不断探索和实验中悄悄地得出结论。

释疑:作为教育前线的我们,都知道学生是学习的主体,是课堂学习的核心部分,只有充分激发学生的兴趣和学习热情,才有可能更好地掌握课堂知识。新的教学方法提倡充分发挥学生的主观能动性,为学生提供展示自己的机会,通过“先学后教,先测后讲”让学生自主学习,并在小组合作中解决比较简单的问题,把疑难问题留给老师。通过小组自学,每一位同学都能积极参与课堂,从此课堂变成没有硝烟的战场,学习从此变得快乐起来。

运用:迁移和探究,游戏更精彩。

T:After reading the passage in your book, lets talk about some other ways of learning English well. Please use your own opinions to discuss the ways, you can discuss them in the four aspects: listening, speaking, reading, writing. Then lets have a game—Get the lucky money!(Each group choose a lucky bag and do as it says,youll get different numbers of money)

S9:For listening,we can listen to some English music and radio every day.

S10:We had better speak English to others as often as possible,especially in the English corner.

S11:Reading more English magazines or newspapers will be useful to improve our reading ability.

S12:Keep English diaries, it plays an important part in develop our wring. Or we can also write some letters to our pan pals.

T:Pretty good. Everyone can say something about our English learning. And now please try to write a passage to Li Ming, because he has some trouble in learning English, maybe you can help him. Turn to page 76, part 3. You are required to write a passage in your book, then I will ask some of you to show your work.

(The teacher asks some students to show their passages in front of the class.)

提问:知识的输出用哪种方式更好地在课堂上呈现?

在每堂课的重要知识学习结束之后,老师需要提出一些更高难度的任务检测学生对知识点的掌握及迁移运用知识点能力,而这些任务应该通过何种方式检测会更具效果呢?

释疑:按照传统课堂的做法,教师们通常会根据不同知识点设计一些相对应的练习,以此检查学生知识点掌握的情况。毋庸置疑,这些练习对于学生在考试当中取得好的成绩是有很大帮助的,但是这样训练出来的学生仅仅在应试教育中获得成就,在口头表达和交际方面会有很大的缺陷。因此,我认为学生的知识迁移运用能力不能仅仅局限于笔头,而应在口头方面做更大程度的加强。我们可以通过创设情境,让学生以小组为单位编对话或小品,之后在全班面前表演出来,或是当堂完成一篇作文,并大声地朗读出来。通过和组员的通力合作,学生更在与人合作交流方面有很大的收获。同时在全班面前表演,帮助学生克服胆怯心理,学会更自如地运用这门语言,从而形成更好的语感和表达能力。

三、课后反思总结

本课时是一节阅读课,我在教学设计之初就有意识地将课堂设计成以学生为中心,以阅读为手段,以自学为工具,以检测为目的的新型微课课堂。课堂上通过观看微课视频,检测知识点的掌握,贯彻先学后教、先测后讲的方式让学生自主学习这篇课文。老师不再是课堂的唯一主导者,学生在小组里合作学习,学习能力有很大程度的提高。因此,我个人认为这节课比较行之有效的方式就是通过小组积分的评比调动学生的参与积极性,而回答问题的方式多样,有抢答,有必答,还有游戏,让学生在轻松的气氛中很好地掌握主要内容。同时有几个小亮点:尝试用英文解释英文单词、使用新学的单词或词组造句并不断提高难度、贯穿学习方法的指导、笔头练习巩固考点、运用听力抓住文章主要信息、不同的游戏激起学生兴趣、德育教育辅助教学。

但再好的一堂课也不可能是完美的,这节阅读课仍有些许瑕疵:1.重要语言点的突破主要通过练习并让学生讲解,老师如果能把重点内容再做一次点拨学生会掌握得更牢固。2.虽然运用积分的激励机制鼓励学生多举手回答,但是在回答问题学生数的广度上还应再次改进,争取让所有的同学都能参与到比赛的呈现部分中。3.在学生以小组为单位进行活动时,如果叫上几位小老师一起对每组的活动情况及疑难问题进行解答,可以更好地激励学生并帮助他们更顺利地完成任务。
