“Since the founding of New China, the Chinese government has been following a policy of good neighborliness and friendship. China has successfully resolved land boundary disputes with 12 out of its 14 neighbors, delimiting and demarcating some 20,000 km in length of land boundaries in the process, which accounts for over 90 percent of the total length of Chinas land boundaries. In 2000, China and Vietnam established a maritime boundary between the two states in Beibu Bay. These are perfect examples of achievements of the independent foreign policy, the policy of good neighborliness and international law followed by the Chinese government. Facts have testified that as long as the relevant countries have the goodwill and engage in friendly consultations and negotiations on an equal footing, they can enhance mutual trust and gradually and properly settle their territorial and maritime delimitation disputes.”

“The year 2016 marks the commencement of Chinas 13th Five-Year Plan, which gives priority to innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared development. Switzerland is lauded as the nation of innovations, and has been leading the global innovation index for years. Incorporating Chinas innovative development strategy with Swiss advantages in innovation can achieve the effect of 1+1>2, adding impetus to the development of our bilateral ties, opening up new fronts, and proffering an example and experience of international cooperation on innovation.”
